Assetto Corsa

Haven't fired up AC in a while, I got back into ED and I've only been driving in PC2 for time trials...time is a bit of a problem, life got so busy...now if someone here was to say run a time trial server maybe I'd have an excuse to get back on it....hint hint ;)

I'm very impressed with Sol. I installed it along with the shader lights patch, BLM car and the wet weather mod and everything seems to get on together with no problems so far.

I have to disable DSR during night races because it's too much for my 780 but other than that it runs very smoothly, to my surprise.

I notice there's a new version of Sol and the shader lights patch already. Is there any point chasing these?

Yes, but perhaps stick with what you've got if you're happy and glitch free.
They have performance tweaks/options and the new Sol betas can be installed with drag n drop in CM. It also has an app that lets you adjust the time and date in game.

Might as well wait until the next official releases, which may well feature online functionality. Apparently, it's working and nearly done in private testing.
Saying that, you might want to get the latest shader patch. Just remember to deactivate the old version before updating.

I've been using the SOL author's previous gbWSuite mod for quite a while, should I manually remove that before trying to install SOL?

You don't need to. You can just disable the gbw weathers in CM. You will need to update the shader patch though, but make sure you disable the old version in CM first.

The first thing I did after installing Sol, the shader patch, BLM car and the wet weather mod was take the 919 out for an accelerated (time x60), wet all-nighter. It really is amazing.

Not sure I had the right tyres though - it was all over the shop so I had to really tip-toe around. The game only has dry tyres (I was on mediums) - are there any wets to go with the wet weather mod?

Here's dawn breaking at Spa.

I've done a couple of 60x races, it just looks awesome as everything goes to darkness and they comes out the other side. Its a really impressive mod.

Yes, the sensation of tunnel vision when driving with just the headlamps is strong, even on a monitor. It must be immense in VR.
