Assetto Corsa

What wheel are you coming from barmyllama? I made the jump from the G25 but not all at once. My shifter was knackered so that got replaced first with a TH8 RS.

... snip

Wow, I came in here to see if there was any news on AC, and your post has just reminded me that back in Oct 2012 i won one of those TH8RS shifters and the GP XID pad in a competition on the pCARS website.
I'd no use for it at the time (still dont, truth be told) so i asked them if they would hold onto it as i was working on a project with someone else in the pCARS community to build a site for Sim Racing and figured it'd make a nice re-gifted prize to promote the site launch and someone else might actually get something from it. The alternative was sticking it on ebay, and worst case scenario someone wins it and does that anyway, it at least does a little promotion work for us.
Well the project came to a halt back in April/March as the other person who was helping turn what i'd been working on for about 7yrs into something proper, not my hodge-podge of coding, decided he'd got bored of the direction pCARS was heading and wasnt feeling their 'community driven' aspect (something i agreed with tbh, its community driven provided they're interested in listening, and ignored if its not what they have planned/decided themselves).

So ive just PM'd the guy i PM'd last Oct to see if the items are still available :D

I managed to pick up AC last week, using Vegas Store and the steam sale, i never played NKPro, i think i tried NK around the time i started playing LFS (early 2003) and it didnt play right, controller issues i think, and i just never bothered after that. Didnt try the stock car one either, but heard good things, and everything ive seen of AC has been impressive, so i've been waiting to pick it up for a cheap price as im in no rush.
My word its impressive. Most of what i've read is people saying its got a far better feel than pCARS but not as good looking. I think its pretty damn nice looking as it is, doesnt really need anything more.
I'd happily play LFS if they'd bloomin update the damn thing with new content, visuals are nice but there needs to be something more which makes it a solid racing sim, and this feels very strong in that department.

Im quite tempted to email the guy i started working on this, send him a key for AC, and see if thats enough to reignite his interest in it all again, because i used to love working on the project in my spare time, and i feel what we were working on would benefit the community, as there doesnt appear to be anything like that without paying for it or getting treated like a 2nd class citizen if you dont.
pCARS is nice, i dont mind how it drives to be honest, but then i love playing Gran Turismo and games like Shift can be fun, provided you take them as they are. Assetto Corsa is the first thing ive played since LFS which really felt fun to drive.

Oh, I missed those... Not sure I would like 3 screen gaming for most things... but for racing games it looks wicked.

Second that :)
Tempted to rearrange a few things, connect up my 3 1440 monitors, find where i hid my wheel and get down and dirty with this game :D

Really liking this game, unfortunately looking at the leaderboards....i'm way way way off the mark! :D (i blame the360 controller :D)

Bought this when it had the deal on steam a few days ago. Didn't have a clue what it was as id never heard of it lol but the screenshots looked good and iv been craving a good racer for ages.
Seems abit buggy which is to be expected i guess. Car models are outstanding...seriously impressive...track details not so much. Kind of feels like they put way more effort into the car models than the track graphics/lighting.
cockpit view isn't as impressive as rear view.
Handling feels great and the sound...wow it sounds amazing on my surround setup.
I wish the Dual Shock 4 pad worked with it though as i don't have a wheel and keyboard is never ideal.
Is it really worth getting a wheel for this and what would people recommend? I don't really wanna spend a fortune on one but would like one with at least solid pedals and force feedback...

Couple shots i took, The card Models really do look great.

Having recently got this and looked for wheels myself... there does not seem to be anything south of £100 that has force feedback.

I picked up a Speedlink Carbon GT (Which I paid £13 more for somewhere else as didn't think to look on OcUK), and it's OK... pedals are pants, but the wheel feels decent. It's still much nicer than using controller.

Currently wondering if am going to keep it, or spend bit more...

Just wheels seem to fall into two categories - really cheap and cheerful, or really expensive. Not much in middle ground. Logitech Force GT is about the closest to middle ground, but that generally still around £140 - if you can even find stock.

Edit: Was about to say those screens of yours look a little blurry - then realised am not wearing glasses! Though, do you have FXAA on?

Yeah i no what you mean. Id love a Thrustmaster but i don't really know if i want to spend that much and solid pedals are pretty important as it just feels so much nicer.

Does Thrustmaster T80 Driveclub Edition Racing Wheel PS4 & PS3 work on the PC also? As i will probably be getting driveclub on the PS4 aswell next year.

To get the best visuals you need Nvidia Inspector.

These are my settings

Im running an AMD card. I have everything maxed in game but a couple things do look a little off...So your saying you can improve them even more so?

Haha those look so much better. My colors look so oversaturated on my shots...I disabled HDR n changed the in game settings to what was posted above and it does look better straight away.
