Assetto Corsa

With all my best sectors together it'd be 2:10 for me. So nowhere close but the xbox controller settings are good, I couldnt get the car to turn in before so it must have been badly wrong.
I think that cars are far too stable as is, not enough feeling of weight shift under hard braking for example and not much oversteer for the power so again weight and torque steer too absent for the moment

Glad the settings worked for you :)
There were some pad settings posted earlier in the thread that were absolutely awful. You couldn't even turn the wheel to full lock...
I tried them at first and then had to spend ages trying to get it back to normal since I didn't save the original settings and there's no revert to default button :o This is just where I left it when it started to work properly.

There's still a bit of tweaking to be done and some other cars will need their own config.

You're right, the P4/5C is seriously planted. Perhaps a little too much maybe.
Push it too hard and it'll go off though. Trust me, you don't want to see my outtakes ;)

Check this video to see how well planted it is in real life on pretty much the toughest test out there.

God, I can't wait for the Nord in this game...

Pad settings as below. For twitchier cars, you might want to dampen the steering a little.

Works well (for me) with the Abarth and the BMW GT cars too.
Other cars need a bit of work.

Just tried these setting out as well and i good actually turn corners in the
Abarth, thanks for sharing.

on a side note does anyone know what each setting does? some are obvious but others are not.

Trying to find a decent price on the Thrustmaster T500 .

There is a new Thrustmaster TX wheel that is out already, but I haven to seen any good reviews yet where it is compared to T500. It could be interesting if it addressed some issues of T500 (like overly loud cooling fans for example) while still keeping its super fast FF.

Good stuff :)

Here's some useful info. They're talking about wheels, but it's still relevant with a pad.

Gamma is what we otherwise think of as linearity. A gamma of 1 is direct 1:1 input of wheel-to-game. Typically this is what you will want. Increasing gamma will give the wheel a lower sensitivity around the middle and becoming more sensitive as you turn it.

Filter has a similar effect to the Force Feedback filter. It smooths out your steering input to try to eliminate erroneous movement. Once again, you probably won’t want to do this unless you have overly sensitive or “spiky” controls.

Speed Sensitivity. Raising this above zero will make the wheel less sensitive as you drive faster helping to keep the steering more stable at speed. It changes the steering gamma dynamically as you change speed. Once again a good, well setup wheel will not likely need to change this, but it can help those running high rotations with tight cornering.

Damn you, you pushed me up to 33rd :D

It is pretty unbelievable how quick the top boys are eh? Apart from being ridiculously fast, they probably have great car set-up knowledge too.

Yeah, I haven't touched the car. Do you know of any sites that have some setups?

Use this http://www.radiators-champ.com/RSRLiveTiming/index.php

It can be a little buggy with not recording your time now and then, but it's pretty sweet.

Ive only just noticed that it has a green and Red light to show if it is recording the lap.

I had a brief look for some setups but didn't come across anything. I'm sure there are some around. There'll probably be loads going around in the near future i bet.

Right now, I'm just finding cars I like and learning some new tracks.
The only reason I did OK on Mugello and Silverstone is because I'm familiar with them from my Forza days.

Tbh, I just want Nordschliefe and that's me done :D

Thanks for those settings Petey, found them to be much better than the ones I had tried before. Did 10 laps with the same car and track but was around 9 seconds off your time. :o
I need to get some practice in.

A few of us at CQ247 have bought this now, can't wait for multiplayer to be released.

Do you think I would enjoy this game as a casual time killer every now and then if i'm stressed, or should I stick with something more like Euro Truck Simulator 2?

Yeah, theres a couple of combos where the time are really competitive. What is hard to tell as i've only recently bought the game is whether or not those submitted times are done using a build which is comparable to the current version. If they've reduced the tyre grip because it felt too strong, or something like that, then you could be trying to beat an impossible time, and because its not managed & maintained by the devs they could be unachievable.
Whats more likely is very capable drivers putting in the time and making a couple of tweaks in the setup and nailing laps. The combos which have 30+ people ive been able to get into the top 10 without adjusting setups, however reducing the fuel load can make a big difference once you've got comfortable. Its not drastic, but you can see the difference in the delta and it all adds up, its just a tad quicker into and out of the corners.

It depends really, if your comfortable with realistic racers, as opposed to semi-realistic or arcade racers, this is about as good a sim as you'll find. They're both quite different, i cant imagine getting too frustrated in EUTS2 but screwing up a corner at the end of a good lap can be :D It depends what relaxes you, AC would probably be far more satisfying and enjoyable though.

Will check it out, watching a guy I watch live stream now and he's actually using one. He's also had literally every wheel so i'm trying to get an answer of him on the live chat in the stream :D

Stream is here if anyone is interested.

I'm not one to play a lot of racing games as there's very few that 'click' for me, but this is one that does. Whether it will stress you out depends on the kind of person you are, but I find it quite nice just choosing a car and track, without the online or career component adding stress.

Do I'm finding it quite relaxing personally, and it's making me Co side spending a hell of a lot more on a wheel.

Go for it :-)
