Assetto Corsa

thought i would finally make a post in this thread

got assetto corsa on the implied recommendation of Mike306.
pretty impressed so far.

only really tried a few cars and tracks to get a better feel for it rather that trying loads of stuff at once.
but after spending a week in the F40 at monza66 i decided to switch to the P4 at mugello so i can kind of keep in sync with what others in this thread are trying.

currently using a thrustmaster t500rs and fanatec clubsport v2 pedals.

got into sim racing with GPL back in the day and it was amazing how similar the lotus 49 at monza66 was compared to the lotus in GPL. i was lapping within a couple of seconds of my GPL time after the first lap. shows how well the physics in GPL hold up over the years.

will try submitting times to the RSR table (as thetinsnail) but the RSR app loses me loads of FPS, which is a bug affecting lots of apps when used with crossfire, including, ironically, the app that displays your FPS

Damn, you're right. I thought something was a bit off...

With it on, I average around 65-90fps.
With it off, I average 115-150+fps.

Thanks for those settings Petey, found them to be much better than the ones I had tried before. Did 10 laps with the same car and track but was around 9 seconds off your time. :o
I need to get some practice in.

A few of us at CQ247 have bought this now, can't wait for multiplayer to be released.

Nice one :) I doubt we'll get Matt on this given his Dirt/NFS tastes... ;)

Cheers for that, Spitsy can be trusted I think, he's had every wheel know to man and was an awesome drifter in every driving game known to man:)

Hopefully TX will be sold in more packages than it currently is. 300 notes for a crappy rim and crappy no clutch pedals is a bit rich... Especially f the fan is still noisy, although Spitsy didn't mention that.

Random Pics:

Having found a second hand driving force GT for only £20 more than I paid for the Speedlink Carbon GT, I think I will be returning the Speedlink :D

We have tried talking Matt into buying this but it doesn't seem he's up to it! Showdown is more his thing. :D

Apparently he's now got Dirt 3, at least that's better than Showdown. :p

Wasn't Dirt 3 the very American coll/hip one out of a caravan?

Also, What's the Race07/Race Injection + all add-ons like? I picked them all up for like £3 off Steam the other day.

Race 07 is very good, a bit dated in term of graphics and needs some tweaking to work with a T500 wheel. Very modifiable and plenty of community made tracks around. Still a few player online as well.

Race 07 is great on the T500, but as said previously graphically it is outdated. To get the T500 to work with Race 07 you need download controller settings from Thrusmaster website and copy and paste it into the correct folder. Very simple to do and take minutes, the way to go is with the "realistic" controls for some serious force feed back.
