Assetto Corsa

Hope this plays well, I'll download the tech preview later this evening or tomorrow as got Crysis 3 to keep me busy tonight...

if its good, I'll vote for Steam greenlight..

It looks as though Kunos is giving the guys who supported him in the past first look at Assetto. It looks terrific, and runs as smooth as butter on my aging CoreDuo. Happy bunny here and a definate purchase, but then again NetCarPro was my favourite sim. :-)

Shame it's of no use unless you purchase some other game for £5

nkPro for a fiver is a good buy. Yes it is getting on but it looks as good or better than race07 etc. and has fantastic feel through the wheel and with the car physics. Still seems to be quite a few people on playing multi player as well, and if you want a single play challenge there is the Tronto Bendone 17km hill climb track complete with a hill climb sports car to try!

As for the new demo game, it looks good although I have the graphics down to get enough fps as my system is not the best. You can feel the way the car moves is really right for a road car with a bit of wobbly, understeer and give! Shame the controls are not easy to set up and a bit off on mine so far, I will wait for a few weeks then look for some controller setup help and try the demo properly!

I'm sure a proper demo will be out when the game is released. At the moment though the technology demo is there to try if you own the previous game!

!

I've heard nkPro is okay, but after thinking it over I just feel it was pretty devious of the Assetto peeps to release a 'demo' that links you to a different game that happens to have a discount offer on which IF purchased allows you to play ACorsa *cough* demo :)

Still, hopefully peasants like me can try it sooner rather than later ;)

Bought NetKar Pro for €4.99, which is probably worth buying for me anyway.

But having said that I did play Assetto Corsa first.

I have to say that I'm very impressed, considering this made by a team of about 5 or 6 guys is amazing.

Graphics are good, ran maxed on my PC (i7 920 @3.8, 6GB Ram, GTX 580) 1920x1200 at 60-70 FPS with 4xAA, 16xAF. Motion blur was off by default and I left it that way as I don't really like it, but turning it up killed my frame rates.

Had to manually assign my Thrustmaster T500 RS and TH8 Shifter, would have been nice if the game just detected them and had a default setup.

You get a Lotus Elise SC and the Italian track of Magione.

I played on pro settings using manual H pattern gears and clutch and no assists at all.

Car was a joy to drive, handling was very realistic. The car was very predictable and didn't have the ice rink feel you sometimes get from other sims (iRacing)

Force feedback was very good from the tyres, but i didn't get anything through the wheel from the kerbs or rumble strips.

From the hour or so I've played so far that this is a definite purchase for me when the game is released.
