Assetto Corsa

Just been having a little play on this, and it does look amazingly good, will certainly be picking this one up on release.

Performance is ok-ish, running maxed out 1080P with 4AA gets me 45Fps just about, be interesting to see the hit with 5 other cars on the track lolol (GTX480)

Reading around forums on auto sims, this has the best physics there is at the moment, even at this stage of Tech preview. Miles ahead of pCARS etc. Physics is the unique selling point of this game.

Indeed, the physics feel like a blend of old need for speed (chuck-able) and Gran Turismo (not so chuck-able).

It's definitely the best handling PC sim I've played thus far, a lot less technical than Race 07, but still a bit more involving compared to something like ACR.

More imprtantly than Need for Speed, AC tyre model is similar to Live for Speed ;) The tyres do not suddenly loose grip, but give you lots of feedback when the car is on edge. Allegedly anyway- LFS forums are full of praise, and they are a very spoilt and picky bunch. I love LFS physcs myself and cant wait for the demo.

I dont usually like ISR, but this preview of Asseto Corsas's physics was pretty good

In that video the reviewers said that latest iRacing physcs are "nearly pretty much at Asseto Corsas level". And they are sponsored by iRacing- its on their t-shirts even ;)

Iracing already feeling the heat ;) Asseto Corsas dev's tweet :

Although, I dont see how the two are competitors- I just hate the subscription model. AC will be a traditional game with DLC and mods affair- which I much prefer.

Sweet defo take alook then, no I agree there not competitors, AC is just a game I-racing is a Motorsport simulator. But at the moment I-racing also as the best physics and racing out there been following AC for a long time now.

Hope it really does well about time the PC got a good new racing game that doesn't handle like a arcade throw back. I can see AC being my game for pure fun racing.

If they offer anything near Iracings online experience maybe Ill even switch over :D
First of all they need to get a proper demo out we can all try not some half hearted pay us $5 to try our game.

I should imagine a free demo could be a way off since the game has been delayed until next year I believe.

I think they now plan to release on consoles.

Plus you don't really pay for just the demo, you buy NetKar pro which then gives access to the tech preview. They had it on special offer when the tech preview was first released, I think I only paid a fiver. Don't know if its available for that price.

I paid a fiver for NetKar Pro and to get access to the tech preview, not a bad deal at all considering NetKar pro is a pretty good game in itself.

Really looking forward to this though, the tech preview was fantastic hopefully its more of the same. Felt very Forza-esque.

Given Le Mans is on this weekend, fired up GTR2 and it's showing it's age a bit graphically (have been waiting for GTR3 for years - think it's in a dark SimBin cupboard somewhere). As this is could be a similar moddable sim and I don't mind DLC (if good) - this trumps iRacing and ProjectCars with that model alone.

Seems to me that RaceRoomRacingExperience (awful name) is Simbin's answer to GTR3 and it's not very good from what I've played :(

GTR2 rF etc are all great but as you say they are quite dated now so AC looks like a breath of fresh air for simracing. There are already mods in the works, thought it's often been the case that people post incredible looking renders of a car only for the mod to never materialize.
