Assetto Corsa

Apparently it's because they simulating the suspension geometry exactly and therefore you wouldn't feel bumps and rumble strips through the steering in the real car.

The problem with that is in a real car you can feel the bumps and everything else through you're bum on the seat, which is something yuo don't get when playing a game. So I think there should be an option to have FFB set to real life or one that simulates the bumps through the steering wheel.

better than cars handling ?

Hard to say with only one car to test in AC and pCARS still in pre Alpha, I like both games because they feel more realistic to me compared to iRacing and it's "ice rink" tyre model.

I think the iRacing crowd tend to dismiss anything that doesn't handle like their sim as arcadey. I think that AC, pCARS, NetKar Pro and even GT5 all feel more like real driving.

I know you don't get on with pCARS, but I like it and i think it will do well.

Equally, from what I've played, I like Assetto Corsa and I think it will also do well and I already have a senior tool pack for pCARS and I will buy AC as well.

I've also got a 12 month sub to iRacing and I still play the odd game of GT5 and am in the process of buying a PS1 and 2 so I can play some of the older GT and TOCA games I used to enjoy so much.

Looks interesting, but then Project CARS 'looks' great until you actually play it and you realise no matter how good it looks, it doesn't make up for how bad it 'feels'.

Perhaps I'm easily pleased (I'm definitely not), but I don't get what people find ring with with the way pCARS feels. I'll admit that some builds feel better than others, but it's not as if the game is fundamentally broken.

feels great if you properly setup your wheel via the forums guide.
and get a ffbtweaker file from the forum if you dont like the standard one

but many people expect a sim to be right for them out of the box when everyone is different its not possible.
even in iracing you have to tweak a lot to get it right and that game is ancient.

You also need a 900 degree steering ratio if your wheel supports it for the best experience as the steering ratio for each car is different and all based on a 900 degree wheel
most people who are casual simmers try to use a 180 degree steering lock and thats just pathetic for sims

That simply isn't true. Even in a road car with any kind of torsional strength and stiffness you'll get plenty of 'feedback' from curbs.

In a stiff race car with a cage, bracing, seamwelded chassis and semi or full slick (which are considerably stiffer than road tyres) you feel a heck of a lot more.

I've had a camera rattle clean off it's mount in a prolonged practise session, that was mainly due to riding curbs.

Obviously it depends on the track because curbs differ considerably in size and format.

I just reported the gist of what I'd read on the Kunos forums on the subject. They were specifically referencing the Lotus Elise that they've included in the demo, which is a road car, not any track modified cars that might be in the finished game. And they were referring to the undulations in the track rather than the kerbs or rumble strips. I should have been more specific.

At high speed is the steering meant to be heavy?

I have 900degrees set in game and in the Logitech profiler and the steering isn't as snappy as I'd like, so wanted to know if that is by design or something which is WIP or related to my settings.

It's a lotus with stiff suspension iirc, those rumble strips if you've been over one irl will vibrate the car. I have bass shakers and even then I don't get any vibration. In raceroom racing experience if you go over them they can cause ffb drag and lightness to the steering depending on how you approach them and launch the car over it.
