Assetto Corsa

Not really seen much of this but hearing allot of hype. Is this s PC version of lets say a Gran Turismo?

Not really.

There won't be anywhere near the car content of GT and as for how the SP part of the game will play out, no one really knows at the moment.

That doesn't mean to say that what is in the game now isn't anything but excellent. Quality is better than quantity.

^^

Nice.

Triple screens is definitely on my shopping list at some point.

Thanks, I was pretty happy with it.

My only issue really was the height is not the same as single monitor setup, eg to get the same fov you are a lot closer to the wheel.

And when you press race and it goes to the screen of the car you are driving (the one that rotates around the car), it seems to cut the top off the car as if its not set up correctly?

If I had it as a realistic option in terms of space, racing seat would be what I want the most! I'm not too fussed about only using a single screen at the moment, can definitely see me doing something when I've got my own place with more room!

Basically I copied from this thread and it seems to work fine, although I still need to tweek the FFB really.

I've started the build on my new rig. First task was to get a couple of Buttkicker Mini LFE's mounted to the base of my new seat.

If you're interested, you can watch the progress here:

A bunch of other stuff is in that thread, including the build of my original R-Pod and a couple of arcade machines.

New seat for the build:

It was fairly expensive; £165 for the seat and £55 for the side mounts. It replaces a Corbeau Forza I have on my current rig which is now worn out / falling apart after 5 or so years of use. I wanted to buy something which was a bit more durable this time and also adjustable. I also have seat runners to attach to the bottom. Still, I've recently bought the Fanatec ClubSport Wheel, pedals and shifter to replace my G25 so I wasn't going to go cheap on this. A good seat is definitely worth it IMHO, if it gets a lot of use. Comfort and immersion are key factors. Building stuff is also a hobby of mine and I generally ensure I have good quality components / peripherals.

Edit: Ive just tested Simvibe with Buttkicker Mini LFE's attached to a plate of 4mm aluminium and mounted directly to the base of the seat. Wow! I originally had them mounted in the MDF base on my existing seat and the effect was underwhelming. I obviously haven't been able to drive in it properly yet but the prospects for this are looking good.
