Assetto Corsa

I made a thread here:
http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/voice-attack-controlling-apps.7383/#post-96274

Voice Attack essentially is a voice recognition button box.

My intention was to use it in AC to control the apps, but since they are not assigned to keystrokes, button box users cannot bring up important information from the apps easily unless using the mouse which is cumbersome.

It may not have been an oversight by Kunos, but I just want to bring it to their attention. Judging by their superb support and on-going development I'm quietly confident that they will bring that functionality in an update.

But in the meanwhile if you think that this is something that would benefit you, could you please make a comment in the thread linked above?

I have just posted on Insidesimracing about a quiet wheel, my current DFGT is very noisy and im looking to replace it
I haven't had a DFGT to compare it with, but my G25 was very noisy, mainly during its calibration routines. That's why I jumped on a cheap G27 when I saw it on sale a while back. It's a significantly quieter bit of kit, though how quiet a wheel needs to be will depend upon the circumstances.

If noise during driving is an issue, late at night, turning off FFB can help. But it'd be criminal to do that when AC's FFB feels so superb. But sometimes any driving is better than no driving.

I will make a post for you mate :)

I have just posted on Insidesimracing about a quiet wheel, my current DFGT is very noisy and im looking to replace it.

If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for that :)

As for the wheel suggestion, anything that is belt driven would be quieter than the DGFT. The G27 has helical gears and is quieter in operation than the DGFT. But then noise is subjective as the T500rs also makes some noise so bear that in mind.

Note regarding sound and natural feel of the steering wheel

 The sound the wheel makes is slightly different, depending on whether the wheel is turned to
the right or left:
The difference in sound that you may hear is totally normal, and it is normal that the sound
may be slightly more noticeable when turning the wheel counterclockwise (i.e. to the left).
This sound is related to the type of DC motor incorporated into the wheel, which is significantly larger
and more powerful than motors used by our competitors. The sound you may hear when turning the
wheel counterclockwise (to the left) is due to the brushes which help conduct electrical current to the
rotor. Testing we have carried out indicates that this sound generally decreases over time (i.e. there
is a short “breaking in” period”), and will absolutely not affect gameplay.
It should be noted that a system employing dual synchronous belts, which are also much larger than
belts used by our competitors, is used to transfer the motor’s torque to the wheel. The ratio between
the level of sound produced and the ability to transfer powerful torque is much more favorable in this
configuration than the use of gears or rack-and-pinion systems: this explains and justifies our
choices, which are always driven by providing the very best gameplay for users.

I feel very slight “notches” or “steps” when using the wheel:
For the same reasons (= the use of a high-powered motor, and a system employing large dual
belts), this feeling is also completely normal.

I've upgraded from DFP to G27 and difference is night and day- quietness, speed of steering response (essential for drifting),very nice pedals and even the h-shifter is surprisingly good (expected it to be rubbish). Thrustmaster TX is the upgraded T500, but without the clutch (and H-shifter- but t500 also didnt have it)- it has new brushless motors, smaller base. Not sure about the fan though.

Isnt the TX regarding by most as no where near as good as the T500 or was that just early versions ??? From the review i saw the reviewer hated it compared to his T500

From what i've read, the wheel itself (the replaceable rim) is rubbish on TX, as are its clutchless pedals, but the base (motor, FF etc) is the same functionally but smaller, with better components like brushless motors, less prone to overheat.

Here's one review of the TX.

Imho G27 is a fantastic wheel and is the best choice... unless money is no object. In that case TX with a 458 rim, thrustmaster H-shifter and Fanatec clubsport pedals are significantly better in every way.
