Assistance - Calling all Samsung EVO owners

Contacted Samsung through their online support.

The reply was that the info I sent seems quite normal (don't you just love being treated like an idiot ?), but they requested more info.

I`ve since sent two lots of detailed info.

No reply yet.

ok, I haven't been monitoring my SSDs since the start of feb so im wondering if my drives will start to do the same thing.

going to start running the HD tune software every Sunday which was when I installed windows 10 and done a secure erase on both drives.

I had my drives RMA's and got brand new drives. Two of. They are not fixed. It is either a firmware issue or a TLC nand issue. So even getting a replacement 840 will not help.

just flog it and buy a pro model or a crucial drive, thats what im tempted to do tbh

Samsung should replace you with an 840 pro as all the 840 evo's are currently borked

Yes, there are faster means of restoring performance. Even if there was a way of restoring performance in one minute, I wouldn't use it at the moment. Re-writing the data on the drive is only masking the real problem, and wearing it out slightly.

I'm waiting for Samsung's answer.
I wasn't trying to convice you to run it! The wear is a drop in the ocean BTW.

Might contact samsung aswell, apply some more presure. OcUK is quiet on this issue now aswell I notice.

I had not seen that thanks. Going to sign it now.

It's funny how everywhere reports this issue as originally being brought up on OCN, when infact it was posted here 11 days earlyer.

I've never been able to get such a straight line with my tests. Looks more like a seismograph readout lol.

Done everything apart from the secure erase. I have ran Disk fresh though.

Even at the beginning when I first got the drive, the graph was never as smooth as some peoples I've seen here.

can you do a test using HD tune 5.50 and post it up?

also have you changed HD tune to use 8mb through the options rather than the default?

Yep I have. I'm actually doing weekly tests and passing them on to Hanaro. Here's my latest.

mmmm to be honest if you haven't done a secure erase since you ran the restoration tool I would do that when you can but wait till you have finished off sending the results to Samsung

both my drives have been secure erased and restoration tool version 1.1 ran on them. secure erase was done 2 weeks ago Sunday coming and I run the tests each week to see what the results are like. I did post mine earlier in the thread from 1 week to another and I am using sata 2 ports

Waiting to be able to back my drive up before erasing. Just ordered my Synology NAS and a drive so I can get it done soon.

that's fair enough, I would maybe even wait till Samsung has finished asking for data so you can continue to show them how bad it is or see if they suggest doing a secure erase

That's my plan. No way I'm not sending off results to show how bad these drives can be. :)

My next test is tomorrow.
