ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ

Brilliant, thanks for checking it out. So it is just side by side rather than top/bottom as well?
Just left/right side, and corners. No top/bottom option.

Just checked the manual - yeah you're right, there's not much there. I made some photos:

"PIP/PBP Mode" :
* full screen (off)
* any corner
* side by side (left/right)

"PIP/PBP Source" : each part can be any input

"Color setting" : can use a preset colour mode or user mode on each part

"PIP Size" : Measured on the PG48UQ :
  • Small : 27x16cm (25% of width/height)
  • Middle : 32x20cm (30%)
  • Large : 38x23cm (~36%)

Brilliant, thanks so much for taking the time to reply with so much detail. Shame about the vertical split, but seems like the functionality is still pretty comprehensive. Was very close to picking up the LG 42 C2, but think the monitor features like this are still valuable, albeit with a price!

Thanks again!

Was looking to get a deal on a PG42UQ (and nearly went for the LG) but just couldn't see anything about really but came across a deal at a new sealed PG48UQ at £1k and took it! Stunning monitor it really is, just gonna have to wallmount it or something now as it's a bit big! Chuffed though, nothing comes close to this for big screen gaming/media :D :)
Looking at the PG48UQ due to the ongoing deal at the moment - how do you find the 48" after a few days and how far away from the monitor do you sit?

Have a question regarding the stand on the 48". How far back from the furthest point, to the front of the screen is it in cm using the stand. Im trying to see how far back I can get the panel if I push it all the way to the back of the desk. Cant seem to find those measurements easily.

Currently it's on a 60cm wide desk and that is too short, I'm going to put a small chest behind my desk to extend the viewing distance. After that it'll be roughly a metre away from my eye which should be enough.

How far from the back of the stand does the panel of the screen start? The monitor itself looks to be 4cm in depth according to specs, and stand looks to add another ~8-10cm to the back? Using https://www.displayspecifications.com/images/news/df11835/additional_1.jpg as a reference.

I've bought this monitor a 3 days ago and already got issues with it. Just now while watching netflix i've started getting a static screen like in the old school crt tvs. After restarting the screen it was ok, started watching again and the same thing happened. So after another restart it just happened randomly after 2 minutes. I'm using hdmi 2.1 from my 4090. When this happens i get this error message, i've also updated the firmware to 032.

Could you take a photo of the "static screen" and share?

Nope, pure colorful static, something like this but with smaller grains.
For now everything seem back to normal

Ahh that is strange not seen that before - Has anyone else reported it ? I see theres some quality control complaints regarding these.

Is it me or the Asus website does not offer V032 FW anymore ? There's only V028 aviable.
Also in desktop mode the HDR looks really washed out. I did setup their "driver" same thing still.

I think there are reports of V032 bricking the monitors

The static thing happened again after watching netflix, this is how it looks like.
Gonna try installing v028 fw over my current v032, if that does not work i'll go for a refund.
As much as i think the screen looks nice and all, these sort of issues for such a price is just ridiculous.
Also contacted support, we'll see what they've got to say,

For that price you expect nearly no issues indeed. Shame really but others did comment on the QC of Asus and then their support afterwards lol which put me off.

Third time it happened my system crashed and the fourth time i restarted the monitor and i still see the static and then with the screen on i manually restarted my pc and immediately i saw my bios.
This makes me believe that the actual problem is not the monitor, but the gpu or the driver (4090). Funny thing is i've watched netflix in 4k for 10+ hours with no problems with the same setup.

V031 is back with this explanation:

"*There might be chances that the monitor cannot be waken up with particular graphic cards at 4K resolution with 138Hz. We recommend to run the monitor at 4K 120Hz.
*We plan to release the latest version at the middle of November. Thank you for your patience."

I received this monitor yesterday and like others, many issues with the firmware. Mine shipped with v023 and ran really well under that although the pixel refreshing thing would come up over and over even after running it and it doesn't appear to be running automatically in any capacity.

So today I upgraded to v031 and now the display doesn't always wake from sleep with my RTX 3090 requiring power cycling and I have this weird flickering when G-Sync is active on windowed apps (as opposed to only full-screen ones). So yeah.. not great for the high price tag.

I hope this update they're talking about coming in the middle of November resolves a lot of issues, I'm honestly kind of surprised that they are regressing with so many things on each update.
