ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ

So mine has finally arrived and I can honestly say I'm very impressed. Can people recommend best settings? DP or HDMI when connected to the PC? I want the absolute most I can get out of it.
See the yt video linked on the previous page.

If you have HDMI 2.1 it supposedly alt-tabs/wakes faster with the current firmware. Enjoy! :-)

Hi,
i also have an PG42 UQ and had it run on the V028 the only Problem i had was sometimes a long wake time if i had 138hz active.
Today i flashed the newest Firmware V033 and i am not very happy with this one.
At first 138HZ result in some black flickering but only if im browsing the web or watch some youtube. In Games i did not notice this behavior.
The HDR Colors seems a little bit washed out, if i set the Colors in Nvidia Control Panel to 56% it looks ok but with V028 i did not have to adjust anything like that.
And with V033 i can not set 10bit colors and 138Hz this was no problem on V028.
On 120Hz 10 and 12bit colors are no problem.

I am connected over HDMI2.1, i also tried DP but it makes no visible difference for me.
Cables are vom "Kabeldirekt" (Amazon) but also tried other cables i had at home with the same behavior.

Unfortunately Asus removed the V028 Firmware from their homepage i did not make a backup of it.
Does anyone have the V028 and can send it to me?

Just to add my experience of V033, I've not used my screen above 120hz and had no issues prior to updating to it.

I've now had several wake from standby issues and more worryingly it's randomly gone into standby twice now while I've been in the middle of a game.

I'm going to go back to an earlier firmware in the hope that fixes it.

Does the Asus screen have the near black fine tuning feature that the LG screens have?
I ask as it is a feature that I use on the LG when I play games in vrr that run at lower fps eg 60fps.
I also have the AW oled and it doesn't have this feature which surprises me, and I am wondering if it is just an lg feature?

No it doesn’t

Been eyeing this one, RTings say there are HDR issues with it, is that true? Yet they score it marginally higher than the LG 48GQ900-B, even in HDR. Confused!

RTings tested with an old firmware. I haven’t seen any hdr issues on mine, besides it won’t wake up or loses signal on alt-tab with hdr sometimes. Using the remote usually fixes it. I hope they release a new firmware. This is on DP, HDMI might not have this issue. HDR looks great :-))

the main issue imho is the ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ vs. LG C2 Evo the latter of which can be had for £799, so what are you getting what are you paying for over and above that which makes to the Asus attractive?

Ive had to send my asus back today, i was getting diagonal lines across the screen which suspiciously look like reflections from my blinds having burnt into the screen.

Im not going to risk another one at the moment as much as i loved it.
