WOW you're right! This is really odd. I'm 100% sure it was set to OD= NO. I was seeing ghosting. Just now, I opened the test page and switched it back and forth from NO to YES with the test page running. The ghosting was seen clearly at YES, then seemed to disappear on NO. When I look closer, I can still see ghosting on NO, but it is most certainly lessened.

Hmm...So even tho I turn OD off, it may still be on??? This is really aggrivating me now.

Thanks for that catch.

You kow when you are turning OD on as the screen will go black for a second, when turning OD off it just changes with out goes black.

btw way ive just triied the website above on a Neovo 19" LCD at work and it has very minor ghosting which I guess would be similar to the Asus with OD off. I guess all LCD monitors will show very slight ghosting on that test.

Even if the ghost is minimal, in theory with 2ms (OD off) it should be less noticeable than with 5ms.

I think the OD makes the 5ms into the 2ms panel.

I went round a friends last night who has one of these and got him to try the test, it does ghost more with OD on but not much different to my LCD i have at work. I wouldnt say it was a good test to highlight it to Asus, the ghosting is far worse in games or the Avi clip.

I hardly ever send cables and such when I RMA, but thanx for letting us know

Vasco always told us to send everything back to them but on this occasion IT Troll never got his cables back.

Ive got a working one now from Asus. No ghosting at all, very happy. I might actually remove the protective film from this one now :D

I also got a nice email from Vasco tonight.

Dear Richard,

Just to let you know that I had a look through the OcUK forum and I appreciate all the nice words that you have posted there.

From today I am no longer a member of ASUS, but it was quite rewarding to finish this case just before leaving. Please thank everybody for me, and it was a pleasure to co-operate with you all.

All the best wishes for all you guys and good luck with the monitor.

PS: I am actually just about to buy one myself.

Best regards,

If your reading ...Thanks again Vasco ~ I wish all tech support people were as good as you. Good luck with your new job !!

Ring Asus support (01442 202734) and tell them your situation, Im sure Vasco's replacement has been about the problem and how to fix it.

@Devious:

I`m from Germany and i have the problem, that the german support does not know anything about the firmware update and theiy still assert, that definately there is no update anywhere.

Could you please give me an contact e-mail address of your support? I don`t know if my english is good enough to describe my problem per phone. :)

I`m still in hope, that they could give the information to the german support.

I only have the email of Vasco ([email protected]) and he has left Asus now, unfortunately it looks like you would have to phone them and maybe just ask for an email adress.

The ghosting on the desktop in word etc was an old problem that was fixed ages ago, probably firmware version 057 as you say. I had that fixed on one of my many replacements but it still ghosted in games.

Try and send it back to the shop as it isnt as advertised and Asus will not fix it as their warranty.

How i would love to be stood next to one of those guys who say they cannot see the ghosting. There wouldn't be a huge thread like this if there was no problem and Asus UK wouldnt have acknowledged it either.

Very poor service.

Nice girl .... I never send back any accessories with my RMA's any more as you often dont get it all back.

is your replacement ghost free ?
