Asus MW221U 22" Ghosting in games.

IT troll was saying the turning overdrive off should fix the white shadow (ghosting) not your original tearing problem.

If yours was manufactured in Dec 06 then there goes our theory that all manufactured after Nov 06 were ok :( Not sure what to do now..

Are you getting a replacement direct from Asus or from the shop you bought it from?

I cant tell on that particular scene tbh.

Ghosting is a white trail off a dark object and your background is white too.

Here is the original full size oblivion file which shows up ghosting really well, if you redo your 2 video's with these we can help (though i may be seeing the ghosting from my own Asus :o )

but really, if you run that video looped you cant miss it as its so prominent on the affected monitors.

You may need fraps installed to watch.

Also this is a cam video of that same oblivion clip with the ghosting.

CSpaR, If you could confirm that your December 06 model doesnt have the ghosting issue that would help out a lot of people on this thread.

Ive heard nothing either

Is there anything better about the Asus than the sammy?

I just rather have a working Asus as it looks a lot better to me, but if its not possible then ..

I've found a City Link job that matches my RMA# so I guess I am on for tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've uploaded the RMA Request Form here:
http://download.yousendit.com/A7B7A2FC3ECEC002

It's an Excel spreadsheet so Asus are assuming everyone has it installed.

Im going to hold off arranging a replacement today until I know know yours is fine. Post on here as soon as you get it pls :D

Just recieved my 2nd replacement..

Its dated August even though i requested a new model and it still has the same problem!!! In fact this one is the worst ive had as it has a white shadow on the desktop.

Not all of them have problems. I've had mine since late November and it's fine, not one problem and looks gorgeous.

Thats strange as the Asus guy just told me they are aware of the problem but dont know how to fix it.

That is bad news Devious. Did it look like it was brand new, i.e. with protective films etc. still in place?

Does the desktop ghosting go when you turn the overdrive off? Does the overdrive stay off after a power cycle?

It seems new, but i left on the protective films on all the ones ive had. Looking on the box it looks like its been delivered from Holland to them last week.
The desktop shadow stays with overdrive on or off :( and overdrive resets back to on with a power cycle.

How is yours ?

Devious have you phoned Vasco to as what the f is going on?

Maybe its time to start talking to OcUK?

I rang Vasco straight away and he just said head office is aware of the problem and are looking in to how it fix it. He then said everyone with the problem with be notified in the future when there is a known fix. Why he didnt tell me that before as I would have preferred to have kept the one I sent back as it didnt have the white shadow whists in 2D.

I didnt buy mine at OCuK as they went out of stock as I ordered, Ive requested a refund with the retailer I bought it from.

Hmmm, I definitely don't want to go back to that, it made the monitor completely unusable IMO.

Yes it makes your eyes go funny, im back on my old 19" CRT awaiting hopefully a refund.

p.s 1000 posts ! :D

The shop I bought mine from have refused my RMA too. Ive contacted trading standards tonight and they say its the retailer who by law has to refund when it not possible for the manufacturer to replace with a working model.
