ASUS P8P67 PRO owners - what BIOS version did yours come with

I'm getting the random freezing too chap!! Both with standard settings and overclocked.

Strange as it may seem, that makes me a little happy :-) At least I know it's the motherboard. Hopefully a BIOS update will fix it.

Fingers crossed.

Following the advice that Gibbo says Intel have given OCUK. I've put BLCK onto manual so will see if that has any effect before I try making any other changes.

Apart from that, everything else in the BIOS is at default apart from turning off some of onboard devices that I don't use.

Just finished the build. No installing win 7 now. Had a wee moment of messing around with an error regarding GPT drive partitions but then realised I had to delete my old partition before it would start to install.

BIOS version is 0604. Board was bought in Switzerland.

BIOS is really nice to use, lets see how it goes.

I don't think these issues will be unique to Asus boards.

From looking around various forums, it seems that these problems are unique to Asus P67 boards

I think most people who managed to purchase early went for an Asus board.

I went for MSI, and have had zero problems with standard and overclock settings.

Maybe Asus just doesn't cut the mustard with P67 boards right now?

Hey all,
I appologise if this is a side not but after reading through this thread I see people manually changing the voltage on their RAM due to it being over 1333, if I were to instal something like this;
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-053-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1516

DRR3 Dual channel 1333MHz at 1.5-1.6v would that not be perfect for the stock settings in the ASUS BIOS?

Im a complete noob when it comes to tinkering in BIOS and overclocking but I like to think I can figure some things out! :)

EDIT: Or the slightly lower timing 4GB kit might be a better option?

I'm getting the random freezing too chap!! Both with standard settings and overclocked.

I haven't seen random freezing on my P8P67 non-pro (bios 1003), running overclocked.
Fallout 3 has crashed on me, but I've never found it super stable. Windows was running fine underneath.

I get a red light on the mobo for vga led. It boots and says no hard drive detected then says cpu fan error, any ideas?

Edit: and to add I have 6 different hard drives and tried them all. same problem and below the "no hard drive detected" it even says the name of the drives plugged in.

Sorry, only thing I can suggest is to clear your CMOS or update your BIOS if you haven't already.

Just a quick update on the two issues I have:-

1) Random Freezing
I think this may be resoveled. After reading the update from Gibbo on the other thread I adjusted the BIOS so that BCLK is at manual and set at 100. Since then I haven't experienced any random freezing in 8 hours.

Can't say it is 100% cured it as I have gone long periods before without experiencing it but I'll update this thread with the result.

2) Cold Boot Problem with Memory set at 1600Mhz
Still happening. Regardless of how I set the memory to 1600Mhz I experience the cold boot issues I described earlier. Even tried leaving voltage at 1.5 but still get the cold boot issue.

If I leave the memory at 1333Mhz then it boots fine. Just to clarify, I'm using BIOS version 1003.

right, thanks to all who helped earlier, I am now up and running :D
so to answer the original question, mine shipped with bios 0402

I noticed it saying "no hard drive detected", was it on a page of the bios that said Marvell at the top? If so I believe it is just because there's nothing connected to the Marvell SATA3 controller, mine's still saying that at boot yet here I am in windows (with my drives on the intel controller)

as for the CPU fan error, had that as well, are you running all your fans on a controller? I was, have now moved one of my Apaches to the CPU fan header and it lets me boot.

Does anyone here know a way to disable the CPU fan check so I can put it back on my controller? I'm not sure how much current they draw, and the MoBo header is only rated at 12w (1A)

Hi all, IMHO so far with this build. There are definitely BIOS issues here. RAM - getting quite a few problems if speed is set to anything except auto. If I set 1600 @ 1.5v (vengeance is rated at this spec) get cold boot issues reported here. Also tho turbo/speedstep doesn't work properly - fluctuates between 35 and 37 only (yes that's not a typo). If memory speed is auto everything is fine. Auto detects memory as 1333 btw. XMP profile speeds wrong too. I haven't tried o/cing yet.

Read elsewhere about slow boot times. Tip - disable all peripheral controllers you don't need - eg Marvell. Boot times fly then.

Just a quick update to report my stability issues seem to be resolved. It appears my problem is associated with memory compatibility on the board. Even though it is on the QVL, it isn't supported, certainly not at the full speed.

See my post 31 in this other thread.

With regards to fan speed control, I double checked the fans and they are 3 wire, hence no speed control, which is slightly dissapointing from Noctua!

so the current wisdom is that 1003 is the best yet? and 1053 is just for the nutjobs that wanna try BCLK/extreme OCing?
If so I'll probably flash mine soon (0402 atm).

I'm on 1053 simply because it's the latest version, sitting at 4.5ghz at the moment with 1.34v going through it so i'm not actually taking advantage of the PLL overvolting.

You should definitely upgrade from the 0402 regardless, it lacks shed loads of features.

Just to update in case anyone else has these problems.

Switching the ram into the A1 B1 slots and updating the bios like suggested from others fixed the problem. No red light on mobo any more as well as message about cpu fan :)

I'm using the latest beta update availible.
