Asus RMA support

Believe me, based on what I have experienced, I will NEVER touch an asus product again. Im just glad I picked up my GTX 285 OC2 from BFG and paid £230 instead of £220 for the Asus one :/

Cant go wrong with BFG. The best customer support and RMA service. BFG set the precedent for all manufactures to follow. Personally BFG is my overall preferred choice when purchasing a GC.

Has anyone else ever had an experience with creativecomputing?

My Asus Striker Extreme died on me in Feb. I paid for an RMA and sent my board to Creative Computing, 6 months later I'm still waiting for a working replacement motherboard. They've sent me 3 faulty replacement motherboards, all failing to boot with the CPU INIT error, 1 motherboard had the button missing. All the BIOS chips had a big X felt tipped on top.

I've reported Creative Computing to the PCA and there trying to sort something out for me.

I'll never buy an Asus product again, and certainly want nothing to do with Creative Computing again.

On the plus side, I'll be buying an overclocked i7 bundle just as soon as I get paid my overtime...

i read this and then googled Asus and rma and just wow. My P5Q Deluxe died on me after 9 months so luckily im getting credited where i bought it from and this time have decided to go Gigabyte as most people rate there RMA as good since they have RMA located here in the UK.

Not to mention a lot of people rate there boards as good as well. Just glad my asus board died within 12 months and not after.

When returning to OcUK we can turn an Asus product around in worst case scenario 14 days when faulty and a Gigabyte board within a week. :)
Hi does this refer to motherboards purchased within the first year? if it's after the first year then we have to go through Asus anyway?

Doesnt really effect me as I upgrade my motherboard when a new chipset or better clocking motherboard comes out normally within a year.

I like Asus motherboards, but I wont buy one again unless I've got a good 3 year RMA.

Not good to hear :(

creative computing overcharge for everything and have always had poor customer service from what i know glad to know you won't be buying from there again.

Going to give them a ring in a minute.

Any tips anyone can impart when dealing with people like this?
Not sure but obvious things if they let you RMA it make sure you send it with some recorded delivery with signed proof its recieved so you got full tracking, incase they say they never recieved it.

Not sure how Asus stand but with Gigabyte all they require is the serial number as that tells them the date it was manufactured & thats what they take the warranty time from.

If Asus are being a total pain i.e. not going to RMA OR if you dont recieve a repaired/replacement back after 28 days contact your nearest Trading Standards - http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/

Just put your postcode in where it says, it will give you details of your nearest office to where you live.

be polite but assertive. tell them in no uncertain terms that things need to happen, but ask it in a scarily polite manner.

this is a good read by the way - should be a sticky! glad I went for the i7 gigabyte bundle and not the Asus mobo.....

Problem is that I am in Ireland atm, so trading standards isnt really applicable.

I cant belive this is happening. How can asus, one of the largest companies around, be fobbing off UK customers to the POS site that is creative computing. Hell even I could design a better site than theirs :/

Edit: Just rang them now. Got them to change the address but could not pin them down in regards the time it would be to return the motherboard.

The guy said it could STILL take another 4-6 ****ing weeks.

Fan ****ING tastic.

This people is what you get for purchasing one of the most expensive motherboards ever.

Awful awful RMA company to deal with.

Had an brand new Asus laptop, refused to charge up the battery, worked fine when on the power cord. They asked for the battery back only. Sent to them and had a 7 week wait for a replacement, despite numerous emails/calls.

Still didn't charge, they then asked for the full unit back. This was sent back, waited 2 weeks and got laptop back with "replacement motherboard". Opened the box and completely dead, wouldn't even start up with battery or power cord.

Whole unit returned AGAIN, 6 weeks of hassle, calls, emails etc to Holland and eventually after threatening trading standards and various other things got a brand new top of the range laptop (upgraded from the original £300 one i bought).

Awful service - i even wrote a letter to the chariman/chief exec, recorded delivery to say how bad they were, ZERO response. Never ever buy asus again.

Hmmm, this is crazy..

I have had several Asus products in the past, and I have never had any problems with them at all... But after reading this thread, I will make absolutely sure that I NEVER purchase their hardware again, as you seem to be having a nightmare of a time with this RMA process ac1d1ty..

I was actually considering purchasing an RIIE myself just for a change from my Gigabyte X58 UD5's, but I have decided not to bother now incase I get any problems..

I think I will stick with Gigabyte from now on!

Gigabyte better then asus ?

In my experience they are just as dreadful, hard to get an RMA with them and they took 4 days to reply to my support request for my gfx card, someone replied who barely knew any English and barely helped me at all, producing just a standard response telling me what I already knew.

Was this in the UK or the Netherlands?

So......

I am left with all my i7 bits and no pc. I have no idea when I will be getting the replacement stuff back and all the while my components are haemorraging in value.

I would buy another i7 board but for the fact I simply don't have the cash.

Do you realise how soul destroying it is to be on an old pc lol?

And my copy of Arma II came in the post today. No chance on my current machine.

*vents frustration on his keyboard*.
