ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI owners thread***

I have the Asus B650E-F but I believe it uses the same LAN as the "E" version. Is anybody else having problems with the LAN constantly dropping the connection? I have never had this problem with any other board, ever, and this is a bloody nightmare. One minute it's fine the next it's lost the connection to the internet and I get sorry, can't connect to that site messages and the only way to get it back is to shut down the pc, turn off at the wall then turn back on and reboot and the connection will be back for a variable length of time until it drops it again. Just in the last 30 minutes it's dropped the connection three times. I have the latest drivers installed from Asus website. Has anybody found a workaround at all? At this rate I will just buy another board that doesn't have Intel LAN which is a shame as the board itself is very good. Before someone says buy a LAN card, I can't as I don't have space for it (I have a non standard case with the gpu on a riser sat in a shroud over the pci-e slots).
Had issues day one (b650e-e). Gave up and got a nice broadcom card.

My current issue is the USB controller seems to be fubar on my board, random windows disconnect/reconnect sounds. Have been having double key press and missed key issues on an azoth keyboard (rma but no fault) since I bought that, now thinking it's all related.

Actually thinking of RMA of mobo or buying a non Asus board now, always had Asus but this time it seems awful money to quality ratio.

Been well over a month now on BIOS 3057, still no issues, updated my Win11 to 24H2 version, all good with zero issues with 11 or Intel LAN (on 2.1.4.3 driver) etc on my 1GB connection, it's been a perfect board the last 14 months for my gaming needs :) .

New BIOS: 3067
1.Updated AMD AGESA to version 1.2.0.2b
2.Fixed a few fan-related bugs and improved overall system performance.

Updated and it seem ok, so far.

Thanks!

Mine updated fine too, just changed settings to my spec ie disabled fastboot and memory to expo1, temps to 83c max for CPU etc. Seems fine, never needed to load BIOS defaults like previous BIOS.

Btw Asus Global website still showing old BIOS version 3057, so guys go to UK Asus site for new BIOS.

I never bother changing fastboot unless I have problems, just disable ASUS downloader(root kit), iGPU, Bluetooth, Wifi, Intel NIC, and set ECO 65W.

I leave those all enabled and leave ECO at default.. I do use Asus Armoury Crate software for my RGB fans etc , some people say it's infamous, but never had any issues with it. Fan speeds I set in BIOS however.

I do set the fans in the BIOS. I have used Armoury Crate in the past (4790 i7, Z97 PC). did not have issues but I don't need 99% of the stuff. I generally avoid mobo software, need maximum reliability as I use the PC for work (software dev).

Makes sense, I use mine mainly for gaming and general use at home.

I have been having an issue where i can either turn the pc on or reboot and slot A2 will fail to detect the memory, i then have had to reboot the system maybe 3 times before it detects it. when it doesnt detect it the board shows error 15.
i swap the dimms around and follows the slot so. the memory works fine when it is detected.

I would loosen the CPU cooler a small amount, if its to tight it can cause issues with the RAM slots. If that does not help, I would be thinking about an RMA of the mobo.

If you tried both sticks in that good slot then chances are either faulty ram slot in the other or CPU contact area issues with pins, ie too much pressure like FredFlint stated or alignment contact issue with one of the CPU pins. You can try testing (memory test on ram stick in good slot) the ram sticks one at as time with just one installed to check they both function normal and fine on testing in the OK slot (leave faulty slot empty),that way it would rule out the ram sticks 100% and leave you to troubleshoot the cpu contact area and possible other faulty ram slot ie RMA board time in that case.

Another "new" BIOS is available, version 3072 dated 26/12/24, with the same release notes as before:

1.Updated AMD AGESA to version 1.2.0.2b
2.Fixed a few fan-related bugs and improved overall system performance.

Should I be keeping up with these bios updates as the only one I've done is when I bought my new setup and updated the bios to make sure the 7800x3d worked. That was back in October 2023, and my pc has worked fine ever since.

Edit: there has been 11 bios updates since.

I would get the one that reduced the SOC voltage as that stops CPU popping, after that?
