ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI owners thread***

I have the Asus B650E-F but I believe it uses the same LAN as the "E" version. Is anybody else having problems with the LAN constantly dropping the connection? I have never had this problem with any other board, ever, and this is a bloody nightmare. One minute it's fine the next it's lost the connection to the internet and I get sorry, can't connect to that site messages and the only way to get it back is to shut down the pc, turn off at the wall then turn back on and reboot and the connection will be back for a variable length of time until it drops it again. Just in the last 30 minutes it's dropped the connection three times. I have the latest drivers installed from Asus website. Has anybody found a workaround at all? At this rate I will just buy another board that doesn't have Intel LAN which is a shame as the board itself is very good. Before someone says buy a LAN card, I can't as I don't have space for it (I have a non standard case with the gpu on a riser sat in a shroud over the pci-e slots).
I had the same problem, I got a USB 1Gb NIC and disabled the Intel one in the BIOS. I have since switched rooters and gone back to the Intel and it worked fine for a bit, then started up again. I now use a 1Gb port on the router instead of the 2.5Gb port and it been ok, so-far. The Intel NIC is just garbage, ASUS must get them real cheap to keep using them.

It's a known issue some boards do it, some don't.
Can try swapping the CAT cable, if it's plugged into a switch, bypass that and plug it directly into your router.
Some of these work, some some don't. Just try them and RMA if none of that solves it.

Trying a different cable is one of the first things I did. The cables is straight from the Router and connected to a 1Gb slot as that's all the router has. I did hear there were some problems but I thought by this time they would have been solved. Lesson learnt, avoid Intel networking garbage. New board or RMA and new board as I have no faith in these anymore.

RMA is a real pain, £10 for a USB NIC is the easiest option. It's not ideal but it works.

It might be me being thick but I cannot for the life of me get into the BIOS when restarting my PC. If I shut it down & turn on it again then it's fine. Does anyone else have this same problem??

Sounds like your usb is not initialised during boot (wireless keyboard?). Plug a wired keyboard in and change your bios settings also extend the time to hit delete. Could also be caused by fast boot

I always disable fast boot in BIOS, btw my router (TP Link AX20) died about five weeks ago after warranty expired, anyway used the Community Fibre Linksys router for a week then I purchased an Asus TUF-AX6000 router, still rock solid connection with my 1GB speed connection using Intel LAN , my Asus B650E Gaming E is over one year old now, so far have used three different routers on it with no issues. My cables are all CAT7 Shielded (yes overkill but was not expensive).

Been gaming all day doing the new No Man Skys, Beachhead content, still no issues with BIOS or stability.

That's exactly what I did after my last post on here so it should be here tomorrow. Hopefully this should be a satisfactory workaround. I can't believe that Asus/Intel hasn't fixed this. I certainly won't be buying a motherboard with a Intel nic again.

I've had Asus routers for my past to (I had the AC86U for 10 years before moving to the AX89X) and they have been stable. I just pop my Virgin modem into modem only mode.

I have used Asus routers in the past as well with no issues same as TP Link to be honest, I ditched Virgin Media (was also in Modem mode) in Jan for Community Fibre, best move I made ;) .

The Intel NIC is working really well, don't know why others have issues, ie maybe faulty or driver issue?..My Intel driver is 2.1.4.3 released in Jan 2024.

Btw still rock stable with latest official BIOS 3057, just completed "No Mans Sky" new expedition that came out a few days ago where you get the Normandy ship from Mass Effect, so very happy :) .

Been honest I done have problem with my board LAN, had a few issues at first when installing windows when done the build but apart from that luckily been fine, also recently updated bios and chipset and is all good so far is well.

Forgot to mention myself, I had the same situation as above. Only had a few driver issues upon first installing Windows, but afterward it got sorted automatically, the LAN worked with no issues and at full speed. I've not had any issues with the LAN port on this motherboard while I've had it.

However the wireless/bluetooth on the other hand... maybe it's just me, but it seems to perform a little worse than the old cheap CSR2.0 bluetooth USB adaptor I used on my previous build (connectivity issues and such).

Otherwise, overall it's a decent board and comes with a lot of specs that the other single chipset boards don't. Even some of the newer X870 boards don't have the same connectivity and features of this one.
