Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX - 32" 4K, 144Hz, HDR-1400, G-Sync, 1152 Mini-LED zones

It's very content based. I played a bright map on BF1 last night and had a blast. Bright HDR, hardly any noticeable haloing. Best HDR experience I've ever had. Then you switch map to when it's dusk/dark, browns and greys, you are like ohh hell...

Try this

hows it look?

I want to see if it's just high contrast games that cause blooming or if it's just mid/near blacks that have issues

I think the 1600nits of brightness of this monitor is also it own downfall, as this bad Halo's is mainly being caused due to it ultra high brightness

Yeah is 1600nits seriously needed when you are only 80cm away from your screen? I find 1000 nits painful sometimes.

If they hadnt been chasing numbers a 1000 or 1200 nits screen may have faired much better with less halos.

I mean you can just lower the brightness surely. I'm also of the opinion that no one needs that kind of brightness but having it anyway is nice but for daily use just lower the peak brightness setting.

1600 nits is more or less intended for you yo use when you are playing a game in a bright room with all the curtains open and sun shining in. It's most definitely not for use at night with the curtains closed.

I play games mostly at night so based
On my experience with other screens I would lower the hdr brightness to 800 nits on this monitor

FALD LCD's do not have enough zones to make that kind of video look like it would on an OLED

I would kind of expected you to already of know this

I wanted to know if the blooming is better or worse than he encounters in Battlefield 5 so I can get a better understanding of how the dimming algorithm works on this monitor

The price tag is extremely high, although from what I see it is the best (only?) 4k 144hz VRR FALD monitor on the market so I guess they're cashing in on that.

Now my credit card hates me does OCUK have a projected delivery date for preorders?

I’ve been hovering over the preorder button on this but that price is insane, I’m desperately looking for something that gives me close to an oled picture at this size and this looks to do that but over 3k and it doesn’t even have hdmi 2.1

I’m very conflicted! Does any one know if there’s any plans on any other mini led monitors in the works

The Samsung 5120x1440 CRG9 will have a mini LED version supposedly. Whether it will be any cheaper I don't know.

I will tell you this monitor has grown on me more and more. Playing games in HDR is probably the most impressive gaming experience I've ever had. And it has the side benefit of being an amazing desktop monitor to boot. Sorry for you blokes with the markup/tax you face!

https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/blog/w...with-4k-and-high-refresh-rate-the-race-is-on/ lists all the 32" 4k high refresh rate monitors announced so far. Looking at the list the only ones with a FALD backlight are both running on the new Gsync module but that's limiting the HDMI spec so the Acer monitor will have the same missing piece as this one (which really is only a problem if you want to use it with a next gen console).

I don't console game on this screen, so couldn't give a fig. I do want really good HDR and G-Synch. So that leaves the Predator X32 which appears to be vapour
