Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Dark Hero Release? *** NO Competitor Talk ***

Any news from ETA? I cannot wait, this B550 Tomahawk is a pain in the ass with the 5950X...

None yet, I've been checking regularly.

If one website is to be believed with their communications to customers who ordered, they should have received units today. Other sources are saying start of December or beyond but that could be a logistical/supply issue.

I have pre-ordered from a website who told us they should come in stock today. But still no news.

This MB "paper"launch is a joke

Same website as where I ordered from I presume. They have until the 26th to ship my order before I cancel it and get the VIII Hero WiFi instead.

I've emailed them asking for a status update on the stock/shipping situation, will let you guys know if I hear anything back.

I emailed them the other day and got this:

Unfortunately the item you ordered is currently out of stock. At the moment we have not yet received a delivery date from our supplier. Therefor we are not able to give you any information when we will have it back in stock.

We apologize for the delay.

That would be great. I am getting tired with these paper lauches.

Received the below from them this morning:
we are sorry to inform you, that your order 272993649 from the 18.11.2020 cannot yet be dispatched.

GREAR513 Asus ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO X570 - The delivery date for this item is currently in clarification.

Like you eloquently put it, I'm tired of paper launches so I'm cancelling next week and going with the regular VIII Hero WiFi.

Thank you! At least it is clear, there is a delay in the shipping process from the manufacturer. My friend got the same message, he ordered it from the same shop. Well, my new TeamGroup kit is coming after 24, so I just hope, UK shops will have the CVIIIDH in stock by the first part of the next week. I was lucky with the CPU, but unlucky with the temporary motherboard choice. In this MSI B550 Toma, the PBO is instable, memory OC above 3200MHz gives a tons is WHEA errors...

if they want to get better sales for any new x570 it should be prior to opening up 400 series mobos to work with 5000 series at the end of the year, especially with low stock levels of everything. a lot of people getting 550/570 because they have too then wont, conversely a lot of 400 series owners will be buying 5000 series so even worse stock of that.

that said I imagine the fact the dark hero thread has stayed top of the motherboard section consistently and the queues for any Asus product at the moment on stores, they are not worried about its ability to sell. Its just a shame asus doesn't seem to to bothered about uk. i messaged asus uk on FB and still no reply. they have been pretty good in the past.

Hi - if I buy a regular Crosshair Hero with wifi, will I be able to bung a 5000 series straight on it without flashing the bios? This seems like it should be obvious to figure out..... yet it eludes me. Any help would be much appreciated, particularly with finding out (a) what the oldest bios version is that supports the 5000 series and (b) how you figure out what bios you have if you buy the thing brand new.

Sorry for the noob questions. Thanks.

Edit - you would think it would expressly say on their bios page, but no? What a chore :/

Edit 2 - is this it? The bios version needs to be at least 2206?

Hi, Nope, you have to be make sure, the BIOS is already updated for the one, which supports Zen 3. But you can update it via pendrive, you do not need a CPU for the process. That mobo has been equipped with USB BIOS Flashback feature, so just prepare a pendrive ready with a new BIOS.

Yes you will be able to. The reason being all motherboards supplied to retail since August September time have a bios onboard that allows you to boot with 5000 series. After you boot you can then apply the latest one. Of course with that board you have the option also to use the Bios Flashback if it doesn't boot, but I would try first.

Thanks for that tip. I've just purchased the non Dark version myself and should have it delivered this week. Can I ask how you came across that information because I'm still not 100% sure whether to try the bios flashback method on it while I wait an age for a 5900X.

Just a quick note that OcUK have had 10+ Crosshair VIII Hero (non Dark) in stock for a good while now, and that these will not have been updated to the latest BIOS and will most likely need to updated before a Zen 3 chip can be dropped in.

I bought one at the same time as my 5950x which I'm still waiting on, but I messaged OcUK and asked if the board would have the new BIOS and be Zen 3 ready and they told me that it would not be and I would have to update the BIOS myself.

Is been reported quite widely here is rough overview although doesn't mention dates they first started implementing retail stock, but it has been stated other wise AGESA 1.0.8.0 has been preinstalled to stop the problems customers were having before with bios and not having cpu's to update with.

Thanks very much for the helpful link. Looks like I'll be OK if the board was manufactured after August.

Sorry to all for straying off the main topic. Hopefully you guys will have access to the new version really soon :)
