Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Dark Hero Release? *** NO Competitor Talk ***

Looking at images side by side with the normal Hero board the Dark is identical apart from the change from 60A to 90A mosfets...

There is no reason why the normal Hero cant offer the same OC function as the Dark seeing as its basically the same thing bar the change in mosfets.

Hell the Hero didnt even 90A powerstages as it was very good in that department anyway.

A massive change is the elimination of the chipset fan on the Dark Hero, that's a very noticeable different to me. Chipset fans are usually loud and annoying.

Tbh i never heard mine on any of my boards, hero 8, b550i etc etc

$399 or $849 AUD...
AU 23rd November.

If its going for only $399 why is it being advertised everywhere for £440+

Feeling sorry for the dude that purchased the x570 Aorus Master, it's not a good board: https://hardforum.com/threads/gigabyte-x570-aorus-master-wont-power-on-temporary-solution.1993194/
A lot of people (including myself) are suffering from this cold boot issue and I passionately want to get rid of it. Gigabyte won't acknowledge it. So, yeah, in sort wasted around 410 EUR when I bought it around 1y ago.

Looking to purchase a Dark Hero (if it ever becomes available) or Crosshair VII Wifi hero otherwise.

Ha, that was me. I haven't actually had the chance to build the system yet.

Thanks for the information on this though.

I had actually thoroughly researched this board and the first thing I did was type "Gigabyte Aorus Master Issues" into google and had a good read.

From what I can tell a lot of the issues seem to be system specific, bios related, RAM and XMP and power settings in bios.

Obviously, you have the board yourself. Is it really that bad? I am sure you can go into more specifics after having it so long?

I still have time to return it, but I thought I would have the 5900X by now which is due soon (hopefully)!

Also, which revision motherboard do you have? 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2?

If I were you, I'd return it right away, no doubt on that. I believe the problem with the board is hardware related (not a BIOS thing since GB released several versions since) and it seems that a lot of people have it (check user reviews on popular US/UK stores, reddit etc.) For instance https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/jd30l0/x570_i_aorus_mobo_cmos_dead_board_bug_has/

When it works, it's a good board but whenever the cold boot issue appears you have to open the case, take out the GPU, take out battery, wait for a bit and then put everything back together. It's very, very annoying. It happens weeks apart or in some cases days apart, it's quite random.
Interestingly, people have reported that the issue occurs on newer revisions as well which means that either:
- Gigabyte has actually no clue what the problem is or how to fix it
- They know about it but keep silent so as not to take a big sales hit

I have 1.0, bought it early September last year

Hmm, reading around a bit more. It seems like there are a lot of issues with other boards too.

I have come to find that you will always find bad reviews and experiences.

That said. I will kick myself if I have to keep taking the GPU and CMOS battery out.

I will test the board first. I am guessing if the issue is random and hardware specific it's hard to diagnose though right!

I had an Asus Z390 Hero and that was basically fine , but had soo many small issues. USB's disconnecting constantly. WI FI problems.

Unless there is a workaround for your problem that sounds much more serious though! I am deff not ripping anything out once i build it.

One guy said this on updating the bios a few months ago on a forum..

Hi, yes, my Auros Master X570 with 3900X has behaved perfectly well, dual booting Windows 10 and Linux Mint, no hanging or other issues. The speed of the main PCIe slot at x16 and that of the 1st M.2 socket is particularly good, and as I've played around a bit (and still do) tweaking settings it's proved remarkably stable. When I had a few non-boot issues when playing around with the RAM voltages there was no drama; a quick BIOS reset using the button on the back plate and everything was back to stock.

I've got a build log on here if you want to take a look - I still need to get around to updating it, actually!

I reckon it's a compatibility thing, power setting or maybe cable issue.

Not saying it's not a big problem, but some people might not really experience it I guess.

My problems started around 6 months after initial setup. Some people have reported problems during their 1st month.
That's why I consider the money I paid for the board wasted money, If I return it I will either get back the same board back with additional scratches and a month without a mobo, if they replace it it's not unlikely the issue will appear on the new board. Just want to run far far away from gigabyte mobos.
My suggestion would be to simply return the board, buy something else (ASUS? MSI? maybe) and have peace of mind, but it's your decision. best of luck if you decide to keep the board, hopefully you won't be one of the unlucky ones.
