Asus UL30A

been looking for a nice portable laptop, and this seems like a sweet deal. I ordered one this evening so hopefully it'll arrive sometime next week, won't get to try it out for another week though, as i'm away from home, working to pay for it! :)

I hope it lives up to my expectations, can anyone comment on whether this 3GB version has a 64bit version of Win7 or 32bit?

I'm also after a notebook.
My Ageing A7J is quite possibly the least portable laptop ever made.
I'm tempted to stick with Asus as this one has been almost flawless and their RMA is excellent.

Looks like the UL30 is the one to beat?

I recommended this in another thread. It's an excellent laptop for £349, the core 2 version (IMHO) is a macbook killer. Excellent laptops, great price and great looking too. Definitely *the* laptop to buy right now.

Been reading a few forums, doesn't seem to a way round it for the Turbo33 feature.... Am tempted to get this laptop though as £350 seems the best price for its spec.... Have just sold my Acer Aspire One laptop and need something more powerful with the long battery life I got from the 9 cell.....

Is this still a good model to get?

What it like for say 720p content?

I hope to call into town and pick one up, as i need something to just surf the web while sitting in airports and i dont want to take me work dell d830 as its a little over kill.

I still don't understand why they haven't released the UL30vt in Europe. Maybe paving the way for the UL30jt, fingers crossed.

Fantastic laptops these - but I am also holding out for the UL30JT - dedicated Nvida 310m GPU with Optimus switiching tech plus the ULV Core i7's/i5's to choose from!

Check the spec sheet - makes for nice reading ;)

Apparently the graphics card is a rehash of the 210 found in the VT... Also noticed the shorter battery life compared to 12hrs on the VT..... People have been able to overclock the SU7300 processor from 1.73GHz to 1.9GHz.... You can pick up the 80VT [slightly heavier than the UL30VT, 14" screen, dvd writer built in for £525 with 5% off voucher from pcworld website]... If only we knew when the JT was coming out!!!

Mine arrived.
As others have said 64bit OS is a bonus.

Edit.
PROBLEMS:

BSOD BAD_POOL_HEADER and then MEMORY_MANEGEMENT won't even finish install.
Any ideas guys?
