Asus UL30A

Very impressed with this little machine.
Its quite snappy with the dual core celeron.
Going to order a case an get rid of all these stickers, major overkill in my book.

Agreed! Why do all manufacturers do this!

I could understand doing it if the design was rubbish as so to cover it up - but when it is sleek and elegant lets see it!

One area where Apple do get it bang on the nose.

Hello,

I'm gonna be getting one of these next week...could someone answer the following question.

Would it be able to handle a SSD and how easy is it to install the drive....

thanks

720p youtube runs fine, not tried anything else yet.
Battery life is amazing at 9.5hrs web surfing and still have 32% batt life left.

I couldn't resist, just bought a UL30a too, don't really need to the dedicated graphics card in the VT and the JT model is probably a long way a way and double the price....

Took some photographs comparing against my Acer Aspire One 8.9" screen netbook with 9 cell battery:

I picked mine up last week from cpw and I'm well chuffed.
Apart from a little bit of residue from the Intel sticker, all is well :p

Any recommendations for a cover/case?

I have a Dell Mini 9 (Atom N270) and the Asus.

No contest the Asus is hugely quicker in every area, In fact it is much better than my Dell D630 with a T7250, that could well be down to Win 7 and twice the ram though.

Best battery life I have seen since my Toughbook days.

Has anyone else experienced speedstep not working? Even on battery and idle my UL30A sticks it out at 1.2ghz.

I thought speedstep does not work on this version? The one selling with the SU7300 did? Although I think there might be a 3rd party software you could try but can't remember the name just now....

Can you guys check something for me please. I have just replaced my UL30a due to a tingling sensation when the charger is connected and switched on [laptop can be on or off] and brush the metal lid with your fingertips. It's as id the metal top is not earthed properly.
My replacement does the same thing too :(
Is this a major issue? Do you all have this issue?
Thanks
