At last Jailbreak 6.1 coming very soon. Yipee!

Also, quick question folks if I may?. It's been quite some time since I carried out a JB in my iPhone 4. I assume I just need to back it up. Is iTunes first then run the JB?. Will Cydia be reinstalled along with the JB?. Lastly, how do you reinstall all your Cydia apps and tweaks?. Do you need to just make a note of them all and then do it manually or is there a way to restore them?. I've linked my Cydia account via Facebook, can I log back into Cydia via that once the JB is complete and put all my tweaks etc back in like Five icon dock, SB Settings, Bytafont etc or am I barking up the wrong tree??!! Ta.

Hi,
Update to iOS 6.1 in iTunes (most up to date iTunes)
Update the phone software via iTunes n not over the air

Back iPhone up.

Download jail break later today and run

Then you are going to have to reinstall one by one your entire jailbreak tweaks but once you have you may want to look at a package on cydia that makes a backup of your cydia tweaks so that in the future you can restore them that way.
Personally it's best to re do them one by one due to the varied time line when all cydia tweaks are updated to work with most recent iOS versions

Hi, thanks. My phone is already jail broken running 5.0.1 iOS. Do I need to restore the phone back to an unjailbroken state before updating to 6.1 or can I just update over its current jail broken state then take it from there following the rest of the process?. Ta.

According to planetbeings twitter...

@planetbeing: Yes, tomorrow is a concrete release date. It's also the only release date we've ever given. :P

@planetbeing: .@TheRealJKJones I didn't even know that we had 3s in the Calendar until I read it on some blog. :P

As I understand it from before, if you have a jb device and when you upgrade to the newer IOS it removes teh jb and jb apps.

Oh ok.

Well in that case I advise you to do the following things.

1, On Cydia search for the app PKGBackup
This should allow you to create a suitable back up of your current tweaks although I havent used it myself so be cautious.

2, Download and follow the instructions on TinyUmbrella to back up your SHSH blobs just incase you need to revert to iOS5.
3, Back up your device in iTunes.

4, Download and update via iTunes 6.1 and do a clean update/restore of this.

5, Restore your device from the recent back up.

6, Run jailbreak when its available.

7, Follow instructions regarding restoring your PKGBackup solution (At your own risk)

Cheers folks!!. Going to carry out all the backup and preparation stuff then update iOS and wait till the evasi0n jb is ready. I assume we can expect their website server to get hammered again as well as Cydia?.:p

I've got quite used to my 5 being 'normal' Will the Barclays and Skygo apps not work like before without installing Xcon after JBing?

If I don't want anything backed up on my ipod touch.. (fresh install) can I just update it via itunes or over the air then apply the jailbreak?

not too fussed about losing tweaks etc etc.. as my ipod touch is slow and want to start fresh.

im running a JB already btw
