** ATi X1k/HD 3k series overclocking guide - ATi Tray Tools and ATi Tool + FAQ **

Im running a sapphire X1800XT with arctic cooler X2

Catalyst 7.1 drivers
ATI Tool 0.26

I am currently running 700core 800memory with default voltages

voltages show the following in ATI tool-

Vgpu 1.375
Mvddc 2.097
Mvddq 2.097

I idle at around 54/55 and load goes to around 71 highest in gaming. Should I try raising the Vgpu a bit to get more on my core clock?

Can anyone offer any help please? I'm on the latest ATi tray tools and Omega drivers and I have followed the instructions as per Concordes post but my card won't clock past 660/760 on stock volts or higher? I don't have a stock cooler so I can't see it being temps, although it could be?

Any help or advice would be great  spec in sig ;)

What are the temps? If its > 75C then Im not surprised, the XTs don't usually clock very well as it is and all the cards i have fall over at > 80-85C.

My Sappy X1900XT does about 660/790 and no more at around 75C and 675/790 at sub 70C...

Depends if you want every mhz or silence really :)

Hi mate

Ok found temps showing 40 and I have just been playing COD2 for 30mins?

And I have a aftermarket cooler even if I put the fan on 100% it doesn't sound any louder?

current clock 648/756

Ok thats good, yea you can up the voltages!

1.375-1.45/1.475V is find if you can keep it under 60C :)

Mem, 2.1V-2.15V is fine, although the mem controller will fall over (easy to spot - screen covered in artifacts, even on the desktop :)

got a X1900XT which i just had to take a VF900(fatality edition) off as it was going over 90 when artefact finding, with stock only just tips 70 when overclocked

700/800 with 1.55v (this is only for extreme runs)

but is that too much volts?
what sort of volts should i be look at for the mem?

im not sure how it performs on lower volts, just set it as that to make sure that it works

has anyone else had issues with overclocks failing in att ver 1.3.6?

I originally thought it was the bioshock demo and the hotfix but I also updated att at the same time.

I've still not thoutoughly checked it out but I suspect the overclock voltage isn't being applied. hence my 1900xt which was happy at 750 core @ 1.6v now won't even do 680.

There was some talk of beta problems with voltage control here

When did this fall off the sticky list? Is there any chance of getting an updated version to cover the 3850/70 as well (not that the mechanics of OCing them are any different, but maybe some stats on what to expect) - I know when I clocked my x1900 I found your figures hugely useful.

Well I suppose I could.

I still don't own one of the cards tho.

Would be nice if someone could send me a HD 3870? :o:o:o

Ill do it when I get back tonight will images and stuff.

:)

Ok its updated in the sense I've done it how I should have done it in the first place.

Any ideas for the FAQ?

Also got to get my head around R600.

Can someone give me a card list with stock clocks and voltages? That'd be grand.

Cheers CR.

That's awesome dude - cheers for that - can't believe there wasn't a stickied 'generic' overclocking guide for ATi and nVidia in this section - hopefully we can get this locked in. When I get some time I'll dig about and try to find my old links on the more extreme side of the house as well as listings for the newer chips - keep up the good work and lets see if we can get this stickied!
