Hmm after i start the game, my ATT will auto set to 3D clocks which is 500/594? then after that, the drivers will set back to the 2D?? 402/477???

Sorry for the noobs questions, just switched from nvidia to ati..

No.

Stock 2D: 500/600
Stock 3D: 625/725 for X1900XT (650/775 for XTX).

Your 2D: 402/477
Your 3D: ???/???

So this is what happens.

402/477 -- game starts att sets YOUR 3D clocks--> ???/??? -- ati drivers force it back to 500/600. This is how it stays until you change them back to 2D or 3D.

hm, if i were to run 3dmark, the settings will stay right?

3D Mark is one of few 3D programs which do not suffer from the ATi drivers forced 2D clocks.

So if you set the clocks, launch the program, run the test and it won't change.

hey i have a Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

can someone give me a hand on overclocking this bit confused with the 2d and 3d clocks also lol

does anyone have the same card?

:( X1950XTX STILL isn' supported by the creator, slacking tbh :(

I don't get it.
HIS x1900XT @ 650/775 @ 1.4/2.1V and its not stable.
it plays EVE fine, and the artifact checker ok, but just WILL NOT play oblivion,
started new game and it gets to the point where the guards come into your cell and crashes. temps maxing out at about 70C GPU, 50C mem, 73C VR.
no artifacting or anything else just crashes.
ideas?
just going to try the stock clocks etc and see if it works at them.

just noticed something odd.
in my mums PC, her 1900pro doesn't have a "voltages" tab in the ATT overclocking bit!

any ideas why? its all the same stuff as I've got (omega drivers, latest ATT etc)

thanks looks like a very good guide i'm sure it will come in handy with my new conroe rig which will have a X1800XT 512mb as it will be my first ATI card. :)

With the latest ATT, does the autooverclocking work? I have one profile for 2d and another for 3d and have assigned these under the auto-overclocking options

Yep, im using it

As for X1950 people, the Pros don't have voltage control atm and the X1950XTX is STILL not supported because the guy can't be bothered/can't find the voltage chip/whatever.

For the benefit of a non-overclocker showing mild interest/concern in the concept:

What effects on the lifetime of the card do you anticipate the various levels of overclocking described here would have.

In the real world - on say Oblivion - what effects on FPS would you expect to see with the various levels of overclocking described here.

At what point does the stock card and system cooling become inadequate for the various levels of overclocking described here.

Thanks
