##Atomic Heart thread##

Too many puzzles for me but generally enjoying the game so far...So many ways to kill enemies... :D

Badly needs FOV option, losing track of enemies all the time, really pushes you to play a certain way because you just don't have a choice.

This runs great too which is nice, fair play to the developer, they've actually optimized their game.. Shame they didn't make Hogwarts Legacy too.

I'm playing on Xbox SX and I'm loving the game, don't think the protagonist is anywhere near as bad as is being made out, the graphics are amazing and it runs great. I really like the glove for collecting items it's great what they've done there. It's creepy, engaging, great story so far and I'm not even in the open world bit yet I'm taking my time with this one.

Well done to the Devs for making a game that I'm actually enjoying, I'm very hard to please these days and the bioshock games were some of my favourites and this is definitely along those lines done in a modern way

Just take it as a warning :)
I have of course, just wanted to be sure that anything I post isnt off topic if its in regard of Atomic Heart. As I hadnt seen anything that wasnt to do with Atomic Heart, Clarity is always a good thing :)

As my old Gran used to say, if you dont know the car is coming you cant avoid being hit by it.

If no posts have been removed then I'm running on the assumption that it was a head them off at the pass sort of thing over the Ukraine/Russia thing? If so thats ok, at least I know to avoid that aspect of the discussion around the game. No worries, just want to be sure where I'm treading so I dont stand on anything :)

Don't you find it annoying to constantly have to shift about with the cursor while holding down R1? May as well add an auto-loot system, seems a pointless game mechanic. I also find considerable overlap with sound and voice with headphones; can be quite disconcerting.

It does look and run great though and I do hope they add FOV to SX.

It's interesting that you don't mind the protagonist but still think it's creepy.

For me, it feels like it wants to be creepy, but the tonal shift between the environment and your characters reaction to it totally destroys any creepiness.

He doesn't seem scared or in any sort of danger. He just sounds constantly annoyed - like his toast has landed butter side down and his t-shirts got caught on the door handle type of annoyed.

To me it's like a game that wanted to be/have Bioshock levels of creepy/horror atmosphere but then kind of forgot about that and made Dollar store Duke Nukem the main character.

Nah not really, it's interaction to do a "thing" and it works well. The alternative is walking up to every drawer/cupboard and opening an inventory, that is more annoying

I know what you mean and they could have done a better job of his character, it's a bit jarring when he speaks and you're immersed in the environment and I would personally have preferred the game without the comedy from Nora and the main character but I'm not going to let it ruin what is great game.

If you take a look out of your comfort area then you can find a lot of things about who invested in this game.

Although game looks nice that's the only good things about it.

Its interesting, because i think the game would have worked better if the protagonist was mostly silent. I don't mind the Nora bit, that actually works well as some light comic (sort of..) relief whilst in the safe rooms. The constant banal babbling of nonsense and complaining, whilst in the environments which i think are supposed to be creepy/unsettling, doesn't work.

To be perfectly honest with you, I dont care who invests in a game. I just play games because they are fun, dont care how the game came into existence. Just wanted to know what I'm not supposed to post about to be sure that I dont post anything that accidently gets me suspended :)

I'd agree with that, I actually quite like silent protagonists in games as it allows me to create the character in my own mind.

Better for them to be silent these days anyway. What is considered by writers or maybe the mainstream as cool is actually very cringey.

They should put a button in the game options to turn off the blabber.

That is a flawed logic though. If you have bad writer and do silent protag, then the cringey writing will still be in the game, just delegated to other characters...and your protag will also be a mute idiot in the process. Better solution is getting better writers (or as I suspect in AH's case, translators).

God, I'd have paid more for that facility in Cyberpunk. Silverhands especially.

Yeh...

Although the Cyberpunk script writing/ screenplay could be deemed literary genius compared to Atomic Heart :p

The main guy sounds eerily similar to the male V though, but i just looked it up and it isn't the same person.

There's a leaked DEV version of the game doing the rounds on certain sites/torrents. So I hear...

It is dated November 2022 though and has a few minor issues.
