##Atomic Heart thread##

This game runs really good surprised as it's an unreal engine title. Guess it shows they can use the engine efficiently unlike most devs.

Game is good I like a single player fps game now and then my only annoyance is the character/glove talk too much

How does the performance of the game compare to the opening section? Played for a few minutes last night just to test performance on my now aging Vega56. Played until the part where you go over a bridge with the parade passing underneath so not far at all. Surprisingly I was getting very close to 60fps at 1440p with max and ultra settings. Is this a good indication of how the game will run for me or is performance going to tank in later sections?

Hasnt tanked for me yet, got to say that the performance is pretty good throughout, something that we dont seem to be often saying about games these days.

I'm almost glad this game didn't release with ray tracing. Even though I'm a big fan of RT, it reminds me that my 3090 should be able to power through games at 100fps+ at 4k max, even when they look this good - if you don't use bloody ray tracing.

Managed to get SpecialK HDR injection working on this! Was tricky to set up but well worth the effort. This is a great looking and great performing game and is begging for HDR, especially with OLED. Running custom ultrawide 3840x1620 too. Looks amazing.

Why the devs have taken out HDR for the release is beyond me, although not surprising as most devs seem to be smoking crack these days (HDR was apparently in the dev build, and Ray tracing!) I'm using the Gamepass version btw.

Would you mind providing some "how to"?

I've taken a break from Horizon to play AH and have an OLED monitor :)

Have you used SpecialK before, specifically for HDR? If not it's a bit beyond the realms to do a how to on here really, as it can be quite convoluted and tricky, and for this game I had to use an older version.

I'd suggest looking at this for a start https://wiki.special-k.info/

Hit me with any specific Qs if you get stuck or anything though....

OK, no drama. I'll take a look over the weekend. Thank you for the offer :)

I see others saying this too about HDR, and it baffles me. How can you not like/ use HDR? If your screen and system are properly calibrated and the game has good HDR implementation, what's not to like?

Nobody has said they don't like HDR.

I just don't use it in most games, Res Evil Village is the last game I used it on because it properly did HDR like how our eyes would see a scene. I don't find the implementation of HDR in most games to be as natural as Village does. Days Gone is another example of good natural HDR like how the eyes would adjust in real life.

I just don't care enough about HDR to bother flicking Windows over each time for other games as the visual benefits of QD-OLED are there with or without HDR anyway, and my screenshots etc are unaffected if I'm not in HDR as don't have to tone map afterwards resulting in images that look off etc - More convenience for my uses.

That is only for gaming. HDR for TV/films wherever possible.
