ATX 3.1 Availability

Are Antec reliable? I see it only has 7 years warranty, most are 10 years.

From what i can tell so far, they seem to be FSP OEM's which can be a good or bad thing. So far FSP seems to be on the good so this should be fairly decent. If you check out the FSP Dagger PRO ATX 3.0, there's quite a resemblance so i suspect it might be the same OEM branded psu.

Will test it for coil whine in the next few days and report back.

My old Corsair PSU went pop a while back, currently running on a noname one I had lying around for a benchtop power supply project. Is 3.1 what I should be looking at for sure now?

Imo, it's abit of an unknown as to how long the 12vhpwr connector will be supported. If the next gen gpu's launch with the same connectors then i think we should be fine provided they don't catch fire again.

Get this one, it's made by Seasonic on the new Vertex PX platform, don't think there's anything better for the price.

With regards to the Phanteks AMP GH 750W and 850w version, there had to be a reason they are so cheap. Even though they come with a 600w cable, according to their own website those psu's are only capable of delivering 450w through the PCI-e 5.1 output. The 1000w version is capable of the full 600w. While that is more than enough for the mid range cards those choosing 4090's, especially the high end ones, could run into problems. It's something to consider when recommending this psu in builds.

***Edit*** This seems to be a common theme as the Antec GSK ATX 750/850, MSI MAG A750GL, MSI MPG A750G, Thermaltake Toughpower PF3 850w, Thermaltake Toughpower Platinum SFX850w, Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 Gold 850w all have only 450w on the high power output. It gets worse as the Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 750w/Toughpower GFA3 Gold 750w/Toughpower PF3 750 only have 300w on the high power output. No doubt there are plenty of others that have these low power outputs on a supposedly 600w outlet but it would take me forever to go over every psu on the market.

Don't assume that a psu with a highpower 600w cable can actually deliver that much from it's high power output. The likes of the TT 750w units would even throw up problems on high mid range cards so it's something to be aware of when people have problems with bluescreens/shutdowns etc.

***Edit 2*** I just checked some reviews and none of them test the 12VHPWR cable for what it can deliver as they all just test the overall delivery of the 12v rail. This needs to change if this cable is going to stick around.

Have you found any more information on it yet? Would like to know the OEM and general component quality.

Can confirm the Antec SF850X so far has been decent. Quiet and so far at least on my sample no coil whine but will find out when i put a bigger gpu on it like a 4090.

I'm 99% certain its a FSP Dagger Pro OEM but haven't confirmed it yet. Waiting for the pin out diagram to check this which i've requested.
