ATX 3.1 Availability

Realistically in 10 or 12 years there could well be a new PSU format that we don't even know about currently.

Yep, ATX 3.0 is quite new amd already we have 3.1.

I think any well built PSU, that doesn't come with a fault, which you don't over-stress will most times outlive their warranty.

Can confirm the Antec SF850X so far has been decent. Quiet and so far at least on my sample no coil whine but will find out when i put a bigger gpu on it like a 4090.

I'm 99% certain its a FSP Dagger Pro OEM but haven't confirmed it yet. Waiting for the pin out diagram to check this which i've requested.

hey Jay, Any further info on this and have youn tried it with a 4090 yet

Hi all, I was wondering what's the best psu option for the upcoming 5090 which is supposed to have 2x 600W power inputs, I don't see many PSU options with a dual 600W output apart from the new NZXT 1500w platinum psu, does that mean we need a dual output psu for the gpu or do think there will be a single output 600W to dual connectivity into the gpu?

I very much doubt this is going to be the case. MAYBE a top high end card like a Matrix. There is no way the FE or similar cards will require 2x 600w inputs.

The leak suggests a 600W card (not 2 x 600w). But we dont know what the wattage specifically relates to.

Its seems highly unlikely the card will draw 600W given the cooling that would require.

I suspect any decent PSU of 1000W or above will be fine (depending on the configuration of the rest of your system)

The new Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 PSU looks ok, got a decent review:

The release of the ATX 3.1 PSUs seems to be moving very slowly. I've started buying parts for a new build and would ideally like a PSU with a bit more power. I currently have a 1000w PSU in my current PC but I'm wanting to buy a new X3D CPU once they're released and possibly a 5090(I have a 4090 currently but I cannot resist new and shiny objects!) and I want to make sure that I have a PSU that is able to run the latest components comfortably! Or am I being silly and a 1000w PSU will be fine?!

Seasonic from September.

Review here from Kit Guru. Very positive!

Cracking price if you ask me for a very well made, good form factor 1000w PSU, with a 10 year warranty from a reputable manufactuer.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £173.99 (includes delivery: £3.99)

It didn't do so well in the hardwarebusters review:

I purchased the Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1, happy with it so far, no coil whine that I can hear and all seems good. Only £10 more than the Seasonic. Presume OcUK will have the corsair in stock soon.

Hmm, looks like Seasonic released it too soon? I get the impression that he was picking on it because of the high price.

I'd have thought they could fix those issues (high inrush, loose regulation at very light load, 12v dropping too low on transients and erratic fan behaviour) with some tweaks. Unless they're cost cutting and that is the compromise.

These looks good. I've had a couple Seasonic PSU's

Isn't one testing with 115v mains and the other with 230v mains, which has a difference in efficiency and performance? If so, they're not 100% directly comparable if I'm not mistaken.

HWbusters do testing at 115V and 230V, presume Kitguru are just testing at 230V.

and for the price they can keep them

The Antec pricing isn't bad at all really.
