I think you should be able to get a 'decent' A3, 2004/5 model for around 7 grand.

I have absolutely no idea what to look for when it comes to Audi's though so I'll let someone else do the PH suggesting

The interior of a sub £7k 1 Series is far from 'nice'. Not BMW's finest hour, the pre facelift 1 Series.

Well yes, but crucially it isnt as nicely made as the A3.

Either ways, generally to a 21 year old a 1 series or A3 is considered boring. i certainly wouldn't consider either car just yet. But I do like fairly similar cars, VW Scirocco is one which is very similar to the A3 it just doesn't look like an A3!

LOL yeah, I wasnt suggesting it as an option just saying what kinda car i find exciting but similar style/needs to OP being of similar age.

It must be subjective. A Clio/Punto might do many things but the looks certainly do not get my heart racing. They look like your average small/medium class hatchback. At least the BMW and Audi have a touch of perceived class.

You checked insurance quotes on either? I would suspect they won't be that affordable for a 21-year old.

I'm 21 and insurance on a 300bhp RWD 335i with 0NCB is less than £1250.
