Audi owners in here!

I certainly don't get that on my 2006 A3 2.0 TFSI DSG, currently average around 27, granted I do boot it sometimes and sit in traffic for around 5-10 mins

Well managed 37 on the way to work this morning, driving conservatively and without the climate control on (I usually have this on econ anyway).
Never knew my car was capable of such high mpg :)

TBH with their new TFSI engines getting high 40mpg and smoother driving than any diesel version (3.0 and 4.2 tdi exceptions) there is little point getting a tdi audi new now unless you are restricted by co2 for company car reasons.

TBH, with the updated 1.4TFSI engine now producing 150PS and the CO2 dropping to 109g/km, it'll cost you less than the equivalent diesel in P11D tax as the tax rate and list price are both lower.

Diesel's days as the company car no-brainer are over. It only makes sense now if you're doing a lot of motorway miles.

Well I thought I'd buy some more toys before the girlfriend moves in! It's been one very expensive month...

AP racing discs with custom bells, braided lines, custom mounts and Paid blue pads to go with my TTRS calipers.

I decided to attempt to fit them this evening so I went to buy a 10mm allen key bit. Unfortunately after not even 10 seconds it split...

I've also bought a 3" downpipe and sports cat :D hoping to get them all fitted and also buy a new clutch before my track day at the end of July.

8P S3- what to look for?

Found an interesting one with 100k miles. I presume it's due a cambelt/water pump about now?

Haven't heard any horror stories so I guess they're pretty solid?
I'd like the RS4 seats but they're quite rare and I'd like to keep my windows and interior ideally :p

The engine is pretty solid. You'll want to make sure the clutch is ok, that's the biggest weakness.

Cam follower and DV should both have been checked/replaced.

Pretty much just this, the rear springs are a weak point and generally snap at the bottom.

Make sure the haldex has been serviced on time, if you reverse and turn and you feel resistance then the unit could be faulty. Normally an oil change gets rid of most things.

Clutches are fine at stock power but once remapped it won't last long.

Good stuff :)

Slightly concerned that the belt hasn't been done a second time since it's on 110k but I should be able to knock some money off.
1 owner, FSH etc so fingers crossed..

The 2.0TFSI is a bit clattery, isn't it?

Just put a deposit down on an 07 S3.
Not the most exciting of cars I have to say, but I got a good price so can move it on if I get bored..

Very nice, rather jealous ;)

Yeah the 2.0 TFSI is rather noisy, think it's something to do with the direct injection injectors

They are clattery at idle but they do also have a fairly weak cam chain tensioner that can wear and rattles fairly loudly once the engine is up to temperature. The chain is on the right of the engine worth checking it is not this as it is an expensive repair around £500-600 in the UK.

AFAIK, the BHZ has a belt, not a chain..?

The engine has both , the crank and cams plus water pump run on a belt on the left of the engine with the cams and oil pump running off a chain with the high pressure fuel pump running off a cam follower on the right. Later engines run everything off chains.

The old 1.8T also has a chain with the same problems occurring with the tensioner.

Just listened to the video the clattering does sound loud but it might just be the video my Golf makes a similar noise at idle.
