Audi owners in here!

Maybe the wrong thread guys, but im contemplating buying my A4 avant from the company with a view to selling it on for a few quid.

Its a well specced example, Its the TDIe (136) SE Technik withB&O stereo/DAB, Tech pack High, heated leather front and rear,LED/XENON headlights, electric boot, illumination pack and 3 spoke sports steering wheel. Its a 62 plate and will have 90k miles by the time it goes back. Condition will be mint.

By my reckoning its gotta be worth 11k? I havent got a price for buying it yet, but they do tend to give a decent discount, i might even buy it to keep, but im not sure i'd a ticking diesel time bomb for the wife.

That does seem like rather a lot of money for a small hatchback.

I'm not suggesting it as an alternative more to give you an idea of how much money it seems to be, but a BMW 340i M Sport, with 320bhp, is just £3k more!

S3 hatchback is even more!

Does BMW 340i M Sport drive well and comfy? my mate had a 3 series BMW and he diddnt enjoy the feel of it when driving.More of a racer then a comfy car

Ummmm.

It wasn't a serious suggestion - it was an example to show how expensive, comparatively, the A3 is.

You are almost about to buy an A3 1.4T, You don't need or want a 320bhp 340i, it would be a waste of money and cost you more to run. But it illustrates a point. If you do fancy a 3 Series, then a 320i or 328i would be even cheaper and probably more appropriate.

The 3 Series is not a 'racer' but neither is it a luxury car, but then the A3 isn't either?

I guess by the time you've added the options he has to the A3, also on the 3 Series, the price gap is more.

Yea i dont need that bhp mate thats for sure.

The 3 series is a decent car but i think if you add same sort of spec and extras as the audi a3 i specced, they aint that far in terms of price.

Dont forget the a3 i am looking to buy is the S-Line version. the one behind the hybrid and S3 version you can get for more.

Also i have a few extras like better sound system etc.

For a German made hatchback with the kind of specs i am after is around teh 25-28k mark.

This is already with discount!

Correct. i just read the email the dealer sent me.

£27,517.45 is the price

Because the new face lift isn't getting much dealer discount at the moment it pays to shop around. Broadspeed are by far one of the worst places to go, they once took money off me for a car, a deposit, the car never materialised and eventually, after many emails and phone callsI got my money back. They seem to be just a husband and wife team when I last had any contact with them.
Drive the Deal are giving £3358 off, Orange Wheels £3200 but I would try CarWow myself if I was you..

I live in London where anything larger then a hatchback is nearly pointless to drive around London.. If u lived out in the sticks I would get a a4 or something.
. Whats wrong with hatchback?

I lived in East London for a long time. A saloon, or better yet, an estate is absolutely fine. Heck I've seen loads of SUVs around East London.

That deal is from carwow lol. It's near 30k without any discounts

I use to live in East London and recently moved more central. Back where I live it was fine but traveling more central its not so fine for parking.

The thing is. The hatchback are cheaper to run. I don't have a family or I Don't transport large goods so why spend money on a saloon or a estate? What for when 9/10 its just me and my missus with the occasion of two or 3 extra passengers?

So you are saying that the hatchback version of the A3 is cheaper to run than the saloon variant of the A3 with the same engine?

I don't have a family or I Don't transport large goods

Good, so you don't need the practicality of a hatchback then. The boot opening of the Saloon is far more restrictive, but that's little consequence when you don't care about family commitments or luggage capacity, it's a small price to pay for a far better looking car.

so why spend money on a saloon or a estate?

I think when I last looked it was around £600 difference for the saloon.

I am not a big fan of saloons. It's not nicer to look imo. I prefer a hatchback or even an estate.

Some hatchback also has better rear view which is a plus for me.

Saloon is good if u transport passengers frequently as it's more comfy back seats. Also not practical boot as u say.

For me the boot only has to be big enough for weekly shopping or my mtb.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

Saloon is the last type of car I would ever get. I'd go with a suv more so then a saloon anyday!
