Audi owners in here!

Car just been collected day for the cambelt and water pump changed tomorrow. Just below 80k on the clock.

Hopefully after this can have a good few months of motoring without any more money being spent on it!

Car all sorted...£300 later has new cambelt & waterpump.

Good job I got it sorted when I did as the waterpump was on its way out!

Question though...prior getting this done, on my route to work I would get between 47 - 49mpg. Since getting this done I am hitting 56mpg easy. Surely this should not make a difference to mpg?!

Currently pays around £270, will be paying £30 at most.

Was amazed when we went and purchased the wifes Qashqai all they banged on about was tax and mpg saving

Didnt matter about any of the options the car had, the fact it has 18" alloys they forget to tell you how much it costs, when asked about servicing costs the sales guy was reluctant to tell me (£250 a time by the way).

Crazy how cars are sold these days!

Well a guy at work has access to some mapping software and has a mate who works for a tuning company located in Spain but writes maps for some UK tuners (will rename nameless) who will send him the correct map for my car (type).

The cost...£30! That is some crazy markups these tuners are making!

He has had his Octavia remapped to 130bhp and all is well, drives very nicely indeed.

Will get it done and see how the car feels, for £30 if I don't like it will get the ECU flashed back to standard.

Coming up to 22 months of ownership of the A4 and the start of this thread! In those 22 months I have had to replace:

4 Tyres
1 Rear Spring
Flywheel

Still enjoy the car, it drives very well and still solid with no rattles! Averaging 46.6mpg on the computer.

Would I like a new car...yes! However with the birth of my little baby daughter at the beginning of March I am going to keep for at least another 2 years and spend my money on enjoying time with the family!

Booked in for MOT Thursday so will see what work needs to be done, however in the coming months I need to replace:

Oil Change
Disk & Pads all round
Front Windscreen - quite scratched and chipped from the years and a bit of a nightmare in sun.
Wheels need refurbishing
Good Wash & Machine Polish

Car passed MOT, needed front disks and pads but £130 all in not bad for another year of motoring!

Guys can you give me a rough idea on how much car is worth please:

Audi A4 S-Line
56 reg
Auto
87k miles
2.0 tdi 140

Pretty standard spec no leather or nav.

Due to getting the bigger car for missus my mileage has dropped to around 10k per year, do you think it may be possible for a straight swap into a petrol??

Thanks

Looks good :)

Just washed mine quickly at work today and amazing how much difference a car looks after it has been dirty for quite some time. Any thoughts of me changing gone out the window for the next 24hrs anyway!

What engine is yours? Worth spending £500 on a remap etc to get a good boost in power to make the change of car gremlins go away??

Well car is in for MOT & Service, already had a call saying a rear spring needs replacing. These things really seem to be made to keep snapping!

Is there any options on the A5 which dictates a price similar to an A4 of which is the saloon version however 2 years newer?

Does Halfords uses official VAG group products? May be able t get around it that way.

Are we not back to the 'you must get it serviced by the main dealer to keep the warranty intact' again?

Will it not be up to Audi to prove that the oil consumption is down to NOT being serviced by Audi?
