Audi owners in here!

It's almost certainly the same engine as the Golf, perhaps with a different state of tune but nothing more?

Same engine doesn't really mean much on its own, different tune, different ratios etc all make it feel totally different and I wasn't changing gear in the A6 like I have to in the Golf, neither did the A6 feel sluggish at low revs like the Golf does either.

As for manual v Auto its a matter of personal preference, I really just don't like automatics..I like having a clutch.

What year golf and what year A6? There are multiple (i think there are 4) different types of the "same" 2.0 TDI VW/Audi engine.

Finally replaced SWMBO trusty old MK3 GTI with an A4 1.8T Quattro Sport Avant.

Got a few little jobs to sort (got 4 x free coil packs from Audi last week as it hadn't been in for the recall) but generally very pleased with it.

To be honest the paint isn't anywhere near as good as on the old Golf! VAG must have cut back of paint costs in the 2000's! lol.

Gonna get a friend of mine to detail it in the next couple of months and see how it comes out. If it requires some remedial paint work I may do it but from 5 paces it looks fine.

As part of the deal I had the cambelt, tensioner & waterpump done (along with coolant flush & AC refill).

It also had a service less than 1000miles ago, however due to my distrusting nature I have changed the plugs, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter & oil and filter myself for piece of mind. I have also blown best part of £100 on gear oils as I am going to change the gearbox and diff oil (supposedly it's lifetime oil but I don't believe it)

Other than that I've changed the coding so it locks the doors when you drive off and prevents the rear doors from opening when in motion.

It could do with some decent tyres on at some point as it's shod in budgets but they can wait until later in the year. When it was in Audi for the coil packs they also said the clutch bite point is high (but all A4's I've driven seem like this and it doesn't slip even when pressing on), and that rear pads are 80% worn & will need discs tooo (car only does 5-8k a year so they can wait) a little longer before I do them.

I'm thinking I may have the clutch done back end of this year if it doesn't fail before then as if you change them prior to failure you can save the DMF as slipping clutch tends to kill them on these.

looking at one of these and the owner says:
when initiating drive if you put your foot hard it will slightly give a bump, but if you put it slowly it wont do nothing.

any ideas ?

Hi Audi owners!

Today I have ordered my first Audi, it will be a while before I get it and I will update when I have more details but this is the spec:

Audi R8 V10 Coupe
6 Speed Manual
Brilliant Red with Carbon Sideblade
Extended Fine Nappa leather Interior in Black with Red Stitching
Alcantara headlining
Audi Parking System Plus with reversing camera
Cruise control
Black styling package
Carbon sigma door mirror -electrically adjustable and heated
Carbon sigma engine bay trim
Contoured 3-spoke perforated leather Sports flat-bottomed - Exclusive Red Stitching
Audi exclusive black floor mats with R8 logo and Red Piping

For those that think I should have gone with the V10 Plus, I had it for the day and while it is a very nice car I didn't go for it because the stiff suspension is very similar to the GTR, I didn't get on with the Ceramic brakes and I really didn't like all the interior carbon and RS seats.

I wasn't getting the most out of the GTR with the roads I drive on so didn't really want a "track focus" car that the Plus is.

Magnetic ride, steel brakes and comfy sports seats will do me just fine!

I still have a day before the spec is 100% finalised with quattro GmbH so if anyone thinks I have missed anything glaringly obvious let me know.
I don't think I have an am very happy!

Thanks!

Ceramic brakes if your not going to track it are really worthwhile, they will last 100K+ miles an effect re-sale in a positive way maybe. Also think of your wheels, ceramics emit ZERO dust. :)

Manual good choice, the Audi S-Tronic is too good and so PDK/DSG boring, no sense of change/speed.

The sport seats? Are they buckets? If not go with Recaro carbon buckets, they are so comfy, look amazing and save you around 50kg of the car. Downsides is typically not heated and don't have same level of adjustment, but buckets I find are more comfortable and more supportive.

Do they do a sports exhaust for more noise or is it standard fitment?

The rest looks superb, will be an amazing car, what it will lack in performance/ability compared to the GTR it will make up with noise, engine response and bling bling looks. :)

Thanks Gibbo, I really did test Ceramics during the day I had the V10 Plus and for me the only bonus would be the lifespan and no dust. There is something about the pedal feel on them that I just didn't like. At a £7.3k option for me it just isn't worth it and if they get damaged the replacements not under warranty are very expensive. So I would rather spend that money on other bling bling bits as you say :D

The sports seats are not buckets but they are well bolstered (not that much less than the RS buckets) and fully adjustable, I found the RS bucket seats a bit uncomfortable compared to the Recaro ones in the GTR. Could be due to my height or leg angle on the seat but I don't know.
I wanted to stay away from interior carbon, it didn't look or feel good in my opinion, very shiny and plastic like against the nice nappa leather so I opted to cover everything with extended leather.

The interior should look pretty much like this, stolen from the catalogue!

The stock exhaust is a slightly newer designed "sports exhaust" on the 13 and 14 plate facelift cars, it still has vacuum valves which make it straight through after 4000rpm and you can mod it so the valves are always open. Obviously there are lots of after-market options if I wanted more noise but stock sounds pretty epic already on the facelift cars.

Engine response is so good, its no LP560 in the looks department but I am very excited :D
