Audi owners in here!

Are you keeping the GTR too?

Nope, did a part exchange and let them take it early for a better deal.

I hadn't really been driving it all that much over the last few months due to thinking about the change so didn't mind letting it go.

Hope to be going away for a bit soon to pass the time :D

Need a new sig but I am terrible at them, if anyone could please make me one with a Red R8 V10 I would appreciate it!

Waiting to hear what the build week is but expect before July, hope for end of May.

haha!! ay, need to get photoshop installed again. when ever I format my pc I seem to install all the essentials for gaming and completely forget things like photoshop, office, etc etc xD

ooo fingers crossed for end of may then :D time to go on a 2 month cruise then ;)

Hope you enjoy it. What made you go for that given the competition at the same price (Such as F430/458, MP12C etc)

I love that interior, something the GTR could never have. :)
Yes ceramic brakes generally do have less pedal feel and travel normally, also in the wet they don't always work at first, but saying that I miss mine of the 911 as they were exceptional, very close in feel to the steels, but more powerful braking, better ride quality due to unsprung mass reduction and well ZERO dust. Hence me recommending, but yes a single chip can render a disc useless and at over £2000 each, OUCH!

May I ask what Audi gave you in part exchange for the GTR, did they have your pants down or were they appreciative of the mods/work it had put into it?

You are gonna love the noise of a V10 and the responsiveness, you've just gone from a GT car with super-car performance to a real super-car in my point of view, even if it has got an Audi badge on the front. :p

Thanks, I wanted something naturally aspirated, awd and manual gearbox.
There is not that many options and the Audi was a perfect fit, looks, sound, interior quality, ride, performance, it has just the right balance of everything I wanted.
Would never buy a Ferrari because of Formula 1 (20 odd years McLaren fan) and the MP4 while I could afford a used one it is again in my opinion just a better GTR type car which needs to be used on a track (even though the suspension system is very forgiving on the road).

That is my opinion also, super car but still an Audi, not too ostentatious.

Part exchange value on my car is in the low 50s, they gave me 53k for the car and 11k discount on the new one after them starting at 4k discount. So yeah, if I had put it back to stock, I could have got a few k for the mods but all my stock parts are across the country and I would have had to pay labour to revert it back.
Remember also I didn't pay full retail on the GTR due to Friends and Family of Nissan. I am happy with the deal I got, no regrets!

The TFSI and FSI engines can suffer from carbon build-up quite badly which effects their performance but thats the only weak point really. On the plus side the best way to avoid the build-up is a weekly thrash!

With regards to the carbon build up you can't stop it from happening and the only way round it is to take the manifold off and give it a clean. It really isn't such an issue on most though. Cam followers are weak points and for a cheap part they should be replaced every three years to be on the safe side.

Other than that they are fairly reliable.

Anyone had any experience of this :

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18585345 (AXA platinum plus is the insurance being offered)

Namely why an Audi main dealer is offering a breakdown insurance by AXA rather than the Audi Extended Warranty? It seems with the AXA breakdown insurance that you claim monies back yourself...whereas the Audi Extended Warranty simply pays the garage and the Audi Approced Repairer deals with the claim etc?

Also should I just wait and renew the Audi warranty? What are the relative costs etc? The AXA insurance seems very cheap over the 3 year period especially.

I have a 2012 Audi A6 2.0tdi S-line.

This seems quite unusual and I'm surprised its being offered. I don't know much about the AXA product but if it isn't an Audi Backed warranty which allows seamless claims through any Audi Centre, I'm not sure I'd want it, though at £333 a year the appeal is very strong.

Do you have any policy documents etc? You should have been given them when offered the product for you to read through.

I have zero knowledge of the Audi extended product but from the prices quoted elsewhere it's very similar to the BMW product therefore I would expect you to be offered a renewal of around £800ish a month for the comprehensive zero excess with breakdown offering, with lower prices for removing the breakdown or adding an excess. There is usually a discount if you are renewing rather than taking out a fresh warranty.

Poole Audi say that they have offered this for a number of years as it is better value and works better than the the other options available and other than wear and tear/Service items/damage it covers pretty much everything from what I can see..it has a claim limit of the purchase value of the car and there is no mileage limit. They say if the car is repaired through them then the policy will cover 100% of the labour and parts charges otherwise labour is capped at £88 p/hr. It included UK breakdown cover as standard as well. I am awaiting clarification that the claims can be processed through them once the repair has been authorised.

The policy exclusions are virtually the same as this one from 2010...

Our salesman said that once the Approved Use/Manufacturers warranty runs out, we'll get letters/calls about renewing it.

I've just been on www.audiextendedwarranty.co.uk and done a quote on the reg (C7 A6 Avant 3.0 TFSI). For Comprehensive cover, without roadside assistance, zero excess and 15k per annum it's coming out at £827. Policy Booklet says it's by Mondial.

Before renewing I'd want to read the exclusions list properly. Also want to see what the story is with modifications (only void if component failure directly caused by mod/component warranty voided if modded at all/whole warranty voided if any component modded/etc). Have to say that wayn0r is quite brave tuning his brand new S5 straight away given the stories on forums about TD1 markings!

So it's just a regular insured warranty not an Audi UK backed one?

Yeah it seems to so. I have spoken to Poole Audi and they say they treat claims in the same way as the Audi Warranty. We take the car to them and they deal with the claim and supply a free loan car themselves. There is no excess and the restrictions seem to be the same as the approved warranty. The Audi Approved Warranty people I spoke to are quoting around £800 a year. This seems far cheaper and I am struggling to see the difference in service provision. £999 seems very little cost for peace of mind. I don't really know what to look for though.

Lots of things I don't like in that policy document. I can't copy and paste which is annoying, but things like..

Page 7 What is not covered

'Any items noted during the last service as requiring repair or replacement'

Really? What does this mean? Does it mean if they find something that needs replacing, its not covered? Really?!

There is also a contribution towards parts costs as the mileage increases beyond 60k.

'Any costs related to diagnostic work'

Again... really?!

'Oil leaks'

'Cylinder head cracks'

'Failure of mountings of any description'

Just seems to be all sorts of little getout clauses in there. As you'd expect with the average third party warranty.
