Audi owners in here!

I know there are issues with some of the 2.0 TFSI engines - mine (A5 2.0 TFSI 211) had a rebuild with new cylinder heads and comms rods following an "oil consumption test" by Audi

Is it in warranty ?

Nope it's old now (56 plate) and getting replaced with a brand new TT this week anyway :D

The next owner can deal with the constant oil refills!:p

All TFSI petrol engines love to drink oil. R8 owners are constantly having to top up oil on both V8 and V10 models, and the same applies all the way down to 1.2 TFSI engines.

If one cannot afford to buy oil one cannot afford to run a TFSI engine! 1 litre of oil per 1000-1500 miles is the norm especially for the 2.0 TFSI, which is what, £10 per 1500 miles... **** all!

Odd, as my little 1.4 TFSI engine doesn't drink a drop.

Has anyone fitted anything like these to an Audi convertible?

http://www.reinhold-engineering.de/frames_e.htm

(The one-touch and remote roof modules.)

And if you were going to, would you be happy using terminal blocks? (I haven't soldered anything since I was 12, and I was crap at it then.)

I put one in my old S4, worked fine but I soldered the joints, at the very least use a chocolate block and not those god awful scothblock things. :)

Might be complete BS but from what I have read they are thief magnets. Bet they sound awesome though :)

They may have been at one time but not now - if you are going to go to the trouble of smashing your way into a house to get the keys for an Audi you are not going to do it for an 8 year old one when you could have a 1 year old one from the house over the road.

Thats rather true lol, brain isn't engaged tonight =/
Disregard what I said then!:D

Best stuff I've found are wago connectors. Great for automotive stuff. Don't solder stuff as if it's allowed to vibrate the solder acts as a pivot point and it will eventually break the joint.

Wago lever connector. Joins upto 5 cables of upto 4mm and 32amp.

I've used them on my defender and that's a properly harsh environment.

Guys, currently looking at a 2006 Audi A6 FSI 3.2 with Nav etc all the toys, with 42k on the clock for just under 7k.

Good deal?

If its a 2006 bear in mind it will fall in to the higher tax band. Does seem a little pricey but if it has all the options and a good service history it could be worth it. Make sure the haldex 4wd has been serviced etc.

I was intending to use the chocolate block type - definitely not the Scotch ones.

Never heard of Wago before, I'll have a look at them and see whether they seem better.

So, First world problems!
Just received an email from the dealership and my build week is 38!
That puts delivery at the end of September!

No idea why it is going to take that long and I don't think the dealership knows, they estimated it before at 3-4 months which is normal for an R8 apparently.

They had multiple allocations available for manual R8s and it was the S-Tronic that you couldn't get hold of.
I guess the global demand is high on the S-Tronics with everyone upgrading to that from the R-Tronic and that is causing the longer wait.

Looking at A4 B7's, has anyone got anything bad to say about the Tip Auto 6 speeds?

I'am Undecided whether to go for a 2.0t or the 3.2, I have driven a TT before with the 3.2 lump and its a very addictive/pleasurable noise.
