AUNE T1 (MK1 + MK2) discussion

I'd probably go for the 1m QED Profile Stereo Interconnect which is less than £20 up the river in that case.

meh, double the cost, i'll wait it out, thanks anyway.

dying to use the vali though, i have a 3.5mm to rca so i can double amp my mixamp but it won't be as good a source or as clean as the aune.

Those Pyst cables are meant for stacking though, they are very short at around 7". I'll be getting the QED when I get the Asgard 2 as there is no way I am putting the T1 on top of that, it's like a hot plate. :D

Would this be a good combo with the PHILIPS X2 FIDELIO which I'm thinking of getting (in comparison to an Asus DG soundcard)?

Also, as it has RCA in/out ports, can I also use this device to record an audio source through the RCA in then through the USB onto something like Audacity, and then output it with speakers at the same time as it has a switch for line/usb?

The first answer is yes, it would go well with the X2 and you can fine tune the sound signature with some relatively cheap tube rolling.

Your second question though means you should be looking at an audio interface or sound card because the T1 and no other DAC/Amp has that facility that I know of.
Something like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 may be closer to what you want.

Great, I've ordered the headphones and I will test them without buying the DAC first to see how they sound then maybe later buy it.

I'm struggling to find a USB audio interface that is suitable. It needs RCA in and out, with the ability to control the volume of the RCA out while letting me record through the USB. The Focusrite appears to do all that except it doesn't have RCA ins.:(

there's a Philips Miniwatt PCC88 on the bay right now for £12 which is a bargain

Reflektor 6N23P are cheap (even for NOS) and quite fast and good for metal

I prefer a more laid back sound so use Mullard 6DJ8, which I think I paid £22 for a pair on the bay

Admittedly its been quite a while since I looked into tubes (and it was indeed a brief foray), but is the Rocket not highly recommended for those genres?

I shall bear that in mind, almost guaranteed to end up with a tube amp at some point - they're too sexy and tube rolling is all too appealing.

hey thamks guys for the recommendations now can anyone recommend some headphones , at the moment I have some akg y50's but I am looking to uprgrade to a pair of sennheisers so what do you recommend budget £300

HiFiMan HE-400i or AKG K712 stand out around that price or for a bit less you can get the Philips Fidelio X2 or Sennheiser HD600 or HD650.
They all have their own distinct sound and that's something only you can choose

HE400is if it was me! Although as Rids says, its worth reading reviews on all of the above and trying to get a demo in to see which you prefer.

thanks guys I will have a read up and maybe find somewhere I can try some , I do like a deep rich bass that will now be distorted at a high volume
