Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

Nice surprise seeing the Williams at the top there!
Could try and read a lot into it, but probably not worth it when it could be all change later in practise too.

I'm not worried by Hamilton being down the grid at the moment - Heikki is up there, so no reason why Lewis can't be. I think he was probably testing heavy fuel.

P17 is 'up there'?

So, nobodies piped up any conspiracy theory that the non-diffuser teams are deliberately sand bagging becasue they've clearly missed out on that oppertunity?

Looks like the second practice the "big" teams dropped off after the first session. Could just be coincedence though.

The close times and mix of drivers it looking promising in that top 10 though. We could have some new peoiple on that podeum this year and some good battles for the places after that. Can't wait!

Don't forget they've only got 8 engines to last the whole season, so friday practice probably won't be as full-on as it could be for some teams.

Must say, this was some of the best commentary for F1 I've seen in a while - just wish they did not read text messages all the time; who is doing race commentary - I assume for the race we will not have 5live com.?

Also with limited testing now available , it's one of the very few times you can try out new components.

It's Jonathan Legard and Brundle doing the race commentary. However Five Live will be an option via the red button (like in football).

Hmm, wish BBC simply had one coverage instead of making me chose between Davidson and Brundle

With the in season test ban, how does a team improve it's car? Or is that the point of it? Or do they use practice sessions like last night to develop the car? Take mclaren for example, I'm guessing it'll be very difficult for them to move forward?

Hmmmm, think I'm going to watch Brundle commentary on TV, whilst simultaneously having one earphone listening to Davidson on the radio :p

We Glad to see F1 back and good to see some changes and different cars doing well
just happened to get woke up this morning due to next doors gate getting blown about in the wind so watch practice 2 via the red button

Great the live 5 are doing comentery I watched a few on ITV last year with no comentery on the practice sesions made it increadibly boring

Has nobody done an indepth look at the differences in the rear diffuser debate?

I am wondering if BBC will show it on the qualy coverage, showing what the 'dubious' cars have compared to the rest.

there were some close up shots done of the three teams during practice this morning all three looked completely different from each other, also a close up shot of the steering wheel with the kers button and adaptive front spoiler buttons on show (renault iirc)
all very interesting stuff
