Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

Yes. 1 rain effected race.

It may have been just one rain affected race, but he kept it on the track whilst all around him fell.

Plus, in the period from 2004-2006, the BAR-Honda had been getting consistently better, Button had been qualifying regularly at the front, putting in as strong a performance as the car would let him (long stint tyre related drop off in pace) during races, and became a regular on the podium, and the most consistent points scorer of the latter half of the 2004 season.

In my mind, he's always been a potential regular GP winner, with the possibility for a title given the right car - in the same vein as Mansell or Damon Hill, rather than an outright "demi-god" in the Schumacher sense, or the potential Vettel or Hamilton sense.

Fingers crossed that this year for Button is Damon Hill's 1996 - a year in the best car, with his main rivals struggling in cars off the pace (McLaren, Ferrari etc).

Going to be a good race :D Hopefully Button can lead the pack and get a comfortable win, however Rubens will surely fancy the top spot on the podium. Lets hope they don't take each other out at the first corner.

I understand why many people got fed up with James Allen's excitement over Lewis (and over Button when he was doing well as I seem to remember), but what do you expect? A British commentator is going to get a more excited when a British driver does well? You just have to listen to another national commentary team (Italian, Brazilian etc) too see how excited they get when one of their drivers/football teams win. As annoying as it might be, surely no one should be suprised at this. I can see Legard doing the same thing.

I've not had a chance to catch up on the latest in F1 but heard on the radio that, somehow, Hamilton is last on the grid whilst Button is *somehow* riding pole?
WTF has happened to the cars? :p

that is only 60mph though which is achievable from the start.

not really worth it if your already near the end of the straight though surely? for cars at the back of the grid might it be worth it for cars at the front i'd imagine its better to save it until you have a nice flat out section of the track

They will hit 100km/h after about 2.5 seconds.:)

how many more seconds until they are breaking for the first corner though? some people have there kers boost set to last longer than others aswell i think?

i'd want to use kers at a long flat out section where i can carry the acceleration and speed from the kers boost for a fairly long time

Awesome, everyone's suddenly a BGP fan :D

Have to admit that was impressive, most exciting quali session I've seen probably since.. god knows, Nurburgring 99 (I think) when it chucked it down and everyone was beating everyone else right at the end.

If the whole season if going to be as good as that, it's going to be super-competitive. As much as I'd love Ferrari to win it, McLaren sucking hard will do just as nicely. :D

but with f1 where you are after the first few corners is a good indication of where you will finish, so in hamiltons case at 18th position, use it to get to 10 and you have already then made massive progress. We will have to wait and see though.
