Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

I mainly support the British driver with the most chance of wining. Last year it was ahmilton, obviously i was happy whenever button did well/ok last year, but it was more entertaining concentraiting on hamilton. Tommorows race would be boring if you only concentrate on hami (speculating) but button should do well and therfore worth watching. Look at the 94 australi race the commentators go mad with damon and nigel, both doing well and both british. I don't understand why our country has some desire to not like british drivers. Places like italy and spain won't stop making noise if their bloke does well.

I prefer the good old days when british drivers were given priority, "go johnny go" etc etc

I agree entirely :)

I personally like British drivers, I just dislike Hamilton

I'd really like to see Williams do well, I started watching F1 in the early nineties and supporting Mansell, then obviously Hill and Villeneuve in opposition to Schumacher! I guess deep routed support since I was a kid has always been for Williams.

For this season I'm just really excited about Brawn GP and Newey's Red Bull. I'm probably more into the engineering and cars than the drivers these days, I'll appreciate and support any driver who does something special.

I'm really not sure about Eddie Jordan on BBC this morning though. Too opinionated, likes the sound of his own voice too much, too argumentative... He had some good points but I think he needs to tone it down a bit and give DC a bit more respect!

I'm not a fan of Williams. They messed about with their British drivers with Hill, Jenson and Mansell having to deal with contractual problems to try and stay in the sport.

Then he wouldn't have needed a contract that neutered team mates.

He absolutely would.

Although MS was a superior driver to Barrichello, Irvine, Herbert, Verstappen, etc and in some cases he ended up lapping his team-mates, he needs to be sure that the team are all pulling in the same direction and wont compromise the long term goals of winning the titles, over some short term battle with a team-mate who is supposed to be on your side, taking points away from you in a few circumstances.

Remember, to be better than your team-mate, you have to beat him more than he beats you - even if its just by a single race or a single qualifying session. What you dont want is the Alonso-Hamilton-McLaren situation, which allowed Kimi to come from behind and win the title. That is the sort of thing that MS wanted to stamp out. And it worked.

Too right. The spanish love Alonso and the Brits should appreciate Hamilton. I sense much Hamilton dislike in this forum.

Or could it be that Brits dont like winners...which Hamilton obviously is?

Totally agree. I 'should' like them as I support anything British, but for some reason I don't..

Are the Brawn cars keeping their current livery or are they going to become "Virginised" for the next race in Malaysia now the Virgin sponsorship deal has been done, anyone know?

I think they will run a new livery but I reckon the car will stay more less white with the same fluorescent & black detailing on there seeing as the drivers now have matching lids.

I wonder if Ross Brawn will still have his "Pitwall Banana" during the race now as he is a team principal, lol?

Stu
Hope so. He was very calm when they locked out the front row. Looked like he was on the radio? Probably making sure everything is set for the day (saving fuel, checking things etc) rather than jumping for joy :p

I think the Hamilton dislike has something to do with his personality (or lack of), everyone has an opinion on Alonso good or bad, (for comparison) when most poeple think of Hamilton though theres just an image of some guy whos raced to the top with all the help he needs and no real character building moments.

Either way its nice to see the order all mixed up and exciting :D

Oh, shut up you tart. No-one lambasts Senna for blocking Derek Warwick from joining Lotus in favour of someone who wouldn't challenge him (that would be Johnny Dumfries). No-one seems to be that bothered that Lewis Hamilton appears to have worked his way into a situation where he has a team-mate that won't challenge him at all (see German GP 2008). So why does everyone get all hot under the collar about the fact that Benetton and then Ferrari tended to favour Schumacher?
