Australian Grand Prix 2011, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/19

yeah well plasma's make SD look good but don't pick up the full detail of HD, never mind.

Well it looked great on my Pioneer 5090 plasma (still considered close to the best 2 years after going on sale)

Really hope McLaren (and dare I say it Mercedes and Ferrari - excuse me while I wash my mouth out with soap) find some race pace relative to RB, otherwise tomorrow could be a boring race

Alonso said they were expecting to be 5th - so I wonder which team they thought woud be better - Renault or Mercedes - as McLaren were definitely behind Ferrari by a long way before the new parts were put on the car)

Thought EJ went too far about Sutil, and yet he was less critical of Barrichello - a bit of bias there I think , yeah Sutil maybe should have done better but he was a bit unlucky too

why would they cost them selves a front row spot to hide true speed.

Teams with a lot of speed that know they are ahead of everyone else often do it. No idea why - probably to avoid too much attention from other teams and the FIA. Probably more likely a problem with their KERS or lack of testing with it - a pretty easy 0.4s to gain though once they do use it.

if it isnt working, both redbulls have 2 mclarens behind with with working kers. could be interesting start.

we saw 2 seasons ago what hamilton can do with a kers start. will be an exciting first corner!

I thought Hamilton's KERS wasn't working either according to some here? has that been verified? If McLaren do have KERS working that could be an interesting start.

it wasnt for his Q3 lap but i fully expect mclaren to get that working before the race tomorrow. its prob fixed now tbh.

New season, stricter rules, new wing.

mite be a bit easier to compare like this.

it is definitely closer to the ground, but the centre flat piece of the wing is also lower to the ground so it mite not be flexing as much as it seems.

Just been looking at the top speed figures, surprised to see the typically fast mclaren only half way up the list.

Also funny to see the HRT's almost 20kmh slower.

Of course it's not flexing (the wing) as much as it seems, yet people still don't get it. The flex must be coming from multiple areas at speed. Clearly if the flex was all in the wing it wouldn't pass the test.

I find it incredibly funny that people cry about it not being in the spirit of the rules but were more than happy to see MS bust round the race track with electronics not in the spirit of the rules through some incredible electronics work.

Kudos to red bull for yet again producing a car with a second per lap advantage. Another season where Vettel can screw up daily and still win the title :(

Hopefully the car will eat rears to give the rest a look in.

I'm most looking forward to see if it's easy for a car to pass when the car infront has a KERS failure. The car behind should have around 150bhp advantage through the DRS zone. Even MS should be able to make a clean pass with that kind of advantage.
