Australian Grand Prix 2011, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/19

Drivers of the day for me.

Petrov - Didn't see much of him. But first podium in 3rd place with no incidents.
Perez - I was a skeptical about him, but 35 laps on the soft tyre and points show
Vettel - Near perfect race.

I still love that trophy. It's definitely one of the best of the year.

Completely surprised with Petrov. Really well done to Perez only needing one set of tyres. Webber needed 3. Interesting race. I hope we can see Hamilton beat the German next time round, if not Button.

So, no Kers at all on the Red Bull. Pretty good bluff from them, considering it was reported as fact that they were running mini-kers on a few different websites.

It's great to have F1 back,

Vettel dominant, looked like he always had it easily in hand,
Hamilton did a good solid job really, bit more development and McLaren might be able to challenge Red Bull in the race at least (but then a bit more development by RBR and it won't matter...)
Petrov, one of the big surprises, mainly that he didn't spin once :p

Perez making those tyres last, not sure how Kobayashi did on tyres? Sauber looks good though, both qualifying and race pace, good to see :)

Hopefully Hamilton doesn't fail scrutineering, obviously depends how the stewards see it but it's obvious it wasn't gaining performance whilst wearing the plank down...

Also, DRS, that failed miserably didn't it.

Judging by how much both KERS and DRS unbalances the car, they need to increase the power/distance used by them.

Don't Red Bull HAVE to use Kers though, isn't it part of the rules, not optional like previous years, or, don't pay a whole lot of attention preseason and today was just way to early to get up for the pre-race guff. Would be great if they did the rubbish filler crap in the first 45 minutes and all the pertinent info in the final 15 rather than the other way around, then I could skip most of it.

If they have to have Kers, surely the rules could be tweaked to also insist its used, once every 5 laps or something, thing is Red Bull's didn't even appear to use it off the line, and if it was working in ANY form, theres literally no reason to not use it off the line, I mean surely Webber + kers even if its a one shot thing could have had a better start. Functional but stunted and barely used is one thing and technically its there and working, but not functional and most of it not there, and not used, surely technically thats against the rules?

use of KERS and DRS is entirely optional, but you will have to stick ballast in the car to make up for the missing weight in accordance with weight distribution rules

Great race by Lewis..Button(nice to see him pushing) and Petrov.. :)
Petrov's mom looked very happy ..bless
