Australian Grand Prix 2011, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/19

Don't Red Bull HAVE to use Kers though, isn't it part of the rules, not optional like previous years, or, don't pay a whole lot of attention preseason and today was just way to early to get up for the pre-race guff. Would be great if they did the rubbish filler crap in the first 45 minutes and all the pertinent info in the final 15 rather than the other way around, then I could skip most of it.

If they have to have Kers, surely the rules could be tweaked to also insist its used, once every 5 laps or something, thing is Red Bull's didn't even appear to use it off the line, and if it was working in ANY form, theres literally no reason to not use it off the line, I mean surely Webber + kers even if its a one shot thing could have had a better start. Functional but stunted and barely used is one thing and technically its there and working, but not functional and most of it not there, and not used, surely technically thats against the rules?

It's optional. You don't have to have KERS. Several teams aren't running it, mainly due to cost and packaging reasons.

Car weight limits were increased this year to allow a bit more flexibility with KERS and the larger drivers. It's now a minimum of 640kg with driver and fluids..

Perfect race by Vettel, and fully deserved it since he owned in qualifying.

Red Bull don't need KERS anyway, they have wings.... :p

Some of the people who are instantly dismissing DRS are not thinking it through. It was widely accepted that this track is a terrible example, a fast right hander which will produce understeer for the car behind, then a very short straight. No one was expecting it to be any good at this track, lets give it to at least Malaysia before you dismiss it as useless. I don't know what you were expecting from it, it's not an overtake button, it gives you a little bit more speed, and the straight at Melbourne was far too short to take advantage of that.

Why its a fake bit of rubbish, it isnt racing and has no place in f1

Seriously! Someone needs to steal Red Bull's mp3 player/cd collection. Not because of the volume, but because it's shockingly bad. :D

Has someone bought them the complete "Now that what I call music" collection?

There's a massive difference you retard, turbo/kers everyone who an develop it has it and can use it. DRS is intentionally soap opera and only the losers can yes. it is a ridiculous system.
