Australian Grand Prix 2014, Melbourne - Race 1/19

I mean the time advantage for inters over wets.

Impossible to say really as it will change depending on conditions. The track condition was clearly very very close to favouring inters, Riccy did a truly excellent job to put in that pace in what are exceptionally difficult conditions for inters. Other drivers were doing MUCH worse on the same inters with massively more experience.

Fascinating qually.

I've been waiting for the commentators to say what happened to Button, but they've not mentioned it. He obviously bailed on his last lap for some reason, but what happened? Shame as he was doing well to then.

Just glad to see Vettel down the grid, that RB has some pace though and he should be fast 2moro.

U can really hear the crowds a lot more now as the V6's are so much quieter, strange hearing cheers for once in F1 lol.

What a great start to the season.

Watching it in Germany, Marko blamed software for Vettel's performance.

Wasn't bad. Much laughter caused by the Aussie crowd. :D

Surely Ricciardo has the same software on his RB10? Running 2 different software revisions at this stage of the weekend is not a good idea. Seemed to work ok for him though. ;)

So Fauxtus will be heading to the stewards on bended knees to get Maldonado into the race.
No time set in Q1, almost no other times set throughout the rest of the weekend either.

Will the RBR have pace to challenge the Mercedes and even the Williams in the dry? I think the wet running has flattered the RBR as it allows for better cooling due to lower temps and the wet tends to favour better aero packages... Still doesn't explain why Vettell was so much slower than Ricciardo.

Maldonado not doing a lap, Vettel way down, Button been a bum again and getting stomped by rookie team mate, Ricciardo on front row and Hamilton pole.

Could qualifying have got any better?

Weren't necessarily on the same settings, and other things can still fail, a dozen buttons and hundreds of options, possible for a setting to not enable properly but Marko will always defend his man Vettel, rightly or wrongly. 2-2.3seconds seemed like a huge gap. Am I imagining someone there talking about slowing for a sector effecting them, may have been what Button was saying. I did wonder if with the change in rules to slowing down for 200m rather than the entire sector if that would catch any drivers out where they slowed down for too long.
