Australian Grand Prix 2015, Melbourne - Race 1/19

Van Der Garde has won his Australian court case for a seat in the Sauber, which he decided to start after the Swiss court found in his favour too.

So, will he get paid off?
Get a seat and have a 'car failure'?

If he gets a seat, who gets booted for the weekend?

For reasons only best known to HR people, both myself and my other half have accrued holiday from last year that must be taken before the end of March. We're away on holiday already at the end of March so... the other half has booked us a long weekend away in the Lake District without thinking about the timing...

So for us it'll be Sky Go via iPad in some cottage up north, with most likely very flakey wi-fi. Still can't wait though. A playful side of me would love to see JB and K-Mag smash a 1 2 leaving everyone going how the **** did that happen. But back in the real world I'm just hoping for a half decent race and as few DNFs as possible.

Statement regarding the law case of Giedo van der Garde

Melbourne, March 11, 2015. - After the application defended by Sauber on Monday, March 9, the outcome is unfortunately not as expected. Monisha Kaltenborn, CEO and Team Principal of the Sauber F1 Team, said: "We are disappointed with this decision and now need to take time to understand what it means and the impact it will have on the start of our season. What we cannot do is jeopardise the safety of our team, or any other driver on the track, by having an unprepared driver in a car that has now been tailored to two other assigned drivers."

Further details will be published at a later stage.

Well, if one of the driver was suddenly ill, they'd slot in the reserve driver who has never been in the car with no qualms. No real difference here other than they've been ordered to do it by the court.

Oh well, no surprise there. Sauber are appealing. Which will be heard today.

However, this mornings verdict from Melbourne is already available online.

Talking rubbish. I hope he gets his drive and does well.

Yeah that "unprepared driver" bull is thin anyway, but utterly worthless when Manor are in the garage next door preparing to race with zero prep for either driver.

Yep. Van der Garde won't drive, he will be paid out of his contract, which I exepect is what he was after anyway.

Sauber are only interested in running drivers who bring money, the fact Van der Garde isnt already in a race seat means hes the least valuable of the 3 to Sauber.

Looks as though it's going to be very plain, a few shots are emerging of the team/car colours...

So almost the same as Marussia but without the sponsors. In fairness though I suppose it is hard to get sponsors in the space of a couple of weeks. Nevermind sponsors for a car that will only be on TV when Merc lap them :D
