Australian Grand Prix 2016, Melbourne - Race 1/21

That's a bit of an over reaction - does she know that there's still a race the next day?

It's an expensive trip to make for 1 day.

We've been to Spa loads and are always there from before P1 on Friday right through to being kicked off Eau Rouge as they want to shut the track.

We have no desire to watch Qualifying so going all that way for a Sunday only is a waste. It would be impossible to follow qualifying without having a TV.

There's still practice and the other feature races though - qualifying is just 60 minutes of the whole weekend (or 3 x 5 minutes now!).

Anyway, each to their own. Seems like a knee jerk reaction though.

I see what DM is talking about - in the past it was two flying laps per session and that hasn't changed.

However, they really have taken away the drama of the final flying laps as the chequered flag drops. Whether that makes any difference to the final result or not, it does make a difference to the spectacle and entertainment value.

It's the requirement to watch on TV. Im not going to watch it at home on Saturday and then drive to Spa for Sunday.

Is there a list anywhere of lap records and rules/situation the lap was done? Because that 1:23 was freaking epic. The lap record is Schumi with a 1:24 in 2004 but I'm really bad with memory and what the rules were in a given year. Would that have been right after or before a pitstop, new tires medium fuel, or pit the next lap with tires that last.

At a glance it's way faster than times done in qualifying any time in the past like decade, in Q1/2/3. I'm just surprised they gained this much time, was thinking maybe another 0.5-0.75 seconds car, 0.5-0.8 from tires, 2.5 second gain is HUGE.

You know the running of the sport is a shambles when they vote something like this in without thoroughly thinking it through, only then to ditch it for the next race.

F1 has a management crisis it needs to sort out ASAP before we get even more stupid rules in the future. 2017 looks like another stupid set of rule changes.

Edit: Beaten!
