Australian Grand Prix 2016, Melbourne - Race 1/21

Immediate tweaks for me would be let drivers finish the lap they are on for Q1 and Q2. Give the drivers in Q3 an extra set of tyres and remove the knockout format for Q3.

Or just drop the format entirely. Go back to the old setup but get rid of the q2 tyres for the race rule and simply give each team 3 sets of tyres for Q1, and then for those that progress a fresh set in q2 and then if you make it into Q1 two fresh sets so we get two fast runs from the top 8. Yh it will probably cost more in shipping but we want a spectacle damnit!

I don't know any big F1 fans who looked at the concept and thought it would ever work! Hamilton was just on 5live and said his engineers told him this was how it would go they told the FIA who told them they were wrong apparently!

Tyres are King in F1 they're not going to go burning all their tyres up in qualifying just for a laugh!

Mercedes miles ahead again. At least Ferrari seem to be more strongly the best of the rest now, so there is a small chance of them mixing it up.

In a way after cancelling my sky (expires after this race) I'm kinda glad it looks like being another year of boredom. I'd have hated begging back to sky :D

Didn't watch it

For those that did.. If they had unlimited tyres.. Would it work? I liked the sound of it but from reading it seems like same times and running amount were set and that it lacks drama as times are set early

It would help to a degree, but some also had the problem of simply not having enough time to get in, change tyres, get out and to and complete flying lap before the 90 second limit.

Could just get rid of qualifying and have a reverse championship position race one day (maybe not that extreme) and another race on Sunday with the finishing positions of the first.

It would be exciting but not pure

Think of the overtaking!

I suppose I am pretty bored with F1 now so only see it as entertainment (which it isn't really)
BTCC I can watch and be entertained F1 I can't
So I'd sacrifice purity for entertainment

Id like to see something which basically shuffles the grid but still rewards fastest cars

Removing qualy will not happen because they want an event in Saturday, for ticket sales etc.

Just put the two races across two days is what I was thinking
You could even have half points for the reverse race or something
So much you can do

Ticket sales....

Changing qualifying wouldn't increase ticket sales anyway, now if they made drivers and cars more accessible maybe.

Something you can't see on telly.

All the criticism is about cars not being on track but I thought the rule was they had to stay out until eliminated, surely that should have forced at least two to be out until the end of the session?

Unless that rule was rescinded I don't understand how they could have chosen to stay in the pits etc.
