Australian Grand Prix 2016, Melbourne - Race 1/21

Looks like Merc still have 6 tenths on Ferrari then in qualifying (taking into account slightly faster track when Lewis did his second run).

Definitely a lot less than last year which was 1.4 seconds so maybe some closer races down the stretch. Will be interesting to see Ferrari race pace as their soft runs in testing looked good.

What a load of crap that was. Got home from work and stayed up for that. If they don't change it, I wont bother watching Quali

Nice bit of friendly chat between Hamilton and Rosberg before the press conference, but they'll still be positioned as hating each other. Vettell sitting there with a face like thunder, realising that he's going to be looking at the back of Mercedes again for the whole season.

They made this change because the ticket sellers said they wanted it.

My sister just text me to say she is now cancelling her plans to bother going to Spa this year.

Yep. That solved it. Well done FIA.

It was an odd qualifying last year. They were also 1.5 seconds ahead of Merc in Singapore, basically two outlier races that not much could be read from. Race pace will be more interesting but I don't know, this track just seems to suit Merc.

Wasn't great times by them, but no real comparison. I'd honestly just guess that last year the engine was so different they were less confident in pushing it. this year the engine is more of an evolution with better engine maps so the gap is much closer due to them being basically better prepared for the first race.

That's a bit of an over reaction - does she know that there's still a race the next day?
