***Australian Open***

Good tournament for Murray, a quarter final after having back surgery is a good result. Ran out of steam in the fourth set, a fully fit Murray would have won imo.

Nadal will smash Federer and Berdych/Wawrinka as well. Slam Number 14 for him, only Novak or (a fully fit) Andy could have stopped him.

I never saw this thread - so few people watch tennis.

The game of the tournament had to be Radwanska vs Azarenka. I don't think I've ever seen a woman play as well as Radwanska did today, in terms of her returns.

Normally, we see Serena and the power players, hit the ball hard. Today, Azarenka did exactly this, but to no avail. Radwanska was caressing the ball and manipulating the trajectory of the ball to all parts of the court and for the first time, no matter how hard Azarenka hit the ball, the ball kept coming back, flat.

I totally understand now, why in Poland, Radwanska is so popular.

And then there was Djokovic who got beat.
And Serena.
And Sharapova.

Many top seeds lost (against expectation).

Federer is now playing close to how he used to play. Its probably been about 2 years, since he played like he is playing right now. Not sure if this is down to Edberg (given that Edberg only arrived on the scene a few weeks ago).

Nadal, has to be favourite, but I do believe that Federer, who is playing better than he has in a very long time, has good chance of beating him, on merit.

Great stuff.

Nadal will smash Federer

A year ago, I'd have agreed with you 100%.
But Federer is playing uncannily like he used to play when he was at his peak. I'm not so sure its going to be as straight forward for Nadal to win this slam. He is favourite though...after-all, he is World No.1.

Disappointed for Murray :( And rather annoyed it was RF he lost to. I've never understood his popularity. He's smug, disingenuous and patronising in victory and obnoxious and bratty in defeat. No other sportsman could stroll onto courts with the ridiculous outfit that he does and have nothing said.
It was particularly irritating when the o2 arena supported him over Murray a couple of years back.

So many people dislike Murray but for me, his honest, flawed and genuine behavior/personality is a refreshing change to the players who pander to the public in a desperate attempt to be liked (ie.novak).

But it's good for Tennis due to Federer's worldwide popularity if he can still win one or two slams in the next two seasons before he probably retires.

As for Andy after the back surgery, Wimbledon and the US Open were always going to be his best chance for a slam.

I'm not sure of an all swiss final.
Nadal is the World No.1 and is playing like he's in pretty good form.
So, Federer will have work to do.
Nadal is the favourite.

Its going to be a hilariously dull final, Stan has never won a set (never mind a match) against Rafa in 12 meetings and is 1-13 against Federer. He has the game to beat Federer but not the mentality and Rafa eats 1 handed backhanders for breakfast.

Surprised Murray has decided to play Davis Cup next week, 2 best of 5 sets matches on clay wont do his back rehab any good at all. I hope he makes an impact this clay season since the last two have been awful. Also think Novak will win RG this year.

In reality, the final is tomorrow morning: Nadal Vs Federer.
I think the actual Final on Sunday is going to be pretty straight forward.

Federer was matching Nadal up until the point he complained about the grunting in that set then his service game went off and he fell apart. Shame :D

2-0 Nadal and only one winner from here.
